In an amazing shocker of a night, Sanjaya was declared safe, while Stephanie Edwards and Chris Richardson made up the bottom two. Stephanie went home (most people said, "Who's Stephanie?") and Sanjaya made it to next week. This is a huge victory because we got him on the tour. So now everyone who wants to see their favorite Idols will also be seeing VFTW darling Sanjaya this summer too. And he gets to work with Gwen Stefani next week (let's hope he has the option of singing Hollaback Girl.)

This may be one of VFTW's greatest accomplishments ever, so thanks to everyone who voted, especially all of the new Howard Stern listeners who joined us this week! Every vote counted, and just make sure to vote just as hard next week. Sanjaya will need the help again because people are really going to be mad that he's there. But after his performance of You Really Got Me, there's no doubt in our mind... Sanjaya loves us and we love him.

I can't believe that there are people who wite in to complain about Vote for the Worst. They apparently think that American Idol is actually a talent show. Hey, you guys, if it were a real talent show, they wouldn't start the season making fun of people, and if it were a real talent show, they wouldn't give clueless boobs in the audience (like me) a vote on whether someone was good. They would have experts making this decison (and I don't mean Simon and friends.)

Of course it's a NO... This season was so boring before the whole "Sanjaya movement"

And truthfully, you know in some sick way that the producers are loving the ratings boost. While they probably don't agree with the fact that Sanjaya is still there, they have to admit that keeping him around is good for ratings.

So don't make it seem like we're the only ones who are being "evil"... The producers are just as much to blame... They secretly love it!

The thing that VFTW haters

The thing that VFTW haters don’t understand is that the AI producers are using you and the contestants to make big bucks. The entire goal of AI is to see who is the most popular singer, have that person make an album, and they all get rich. A normal record company has to go through several duds to find a popular singer. AI uses the people (audience) and gains popularity by insulting and humiliating the mediocre contestants. What is the purpose of initial shows but the show how much they can hurt people’s feelings? They don’t have to show those moments on national TV. They do it for their ratings and the cost of human feelings. I thing VFTW is doing to AI what they do to the mediocre contestants!

I've always suspected that

I've always suspected that the show's producers had a hand in the selecting of contestants. After all, as you said, and I agree, "It's not about singing." But I also believe that the producers have more control than just picking the intitial contestants. I happen to think that the whole concept of audience voting is a sham by the producers. It is only a tool to gauge the show's popularity versus Nielsen ratings. The voting format as it stands today, is unaudited. Therfore the producers can say what they want as far as the voting results. The question is why.

I say follow the money. Advertisers pay top dollar for a 30 second spot, and the only way Fox can charge top dollar for these spots is to guarantee viewers.

This is a buisness. Do you think that for one minute that Fox will gamble million$ in ad revenue on the results of a telephone vote? I don't think so. If they did, that means that they can guarantee only the same number of viewers next week as they had this week. They want and need more viewers. Therefore the producers pick the winners each week that will produce increased ratings each week and not the best singers. And what can cause ratings to climb? Scandals, and controversies get people talking and taking an interest in the show and eventually watching the show simply to satisfy the thirst for more scandals and crontroversies. Just look at the buzz that was created from just having Sanjaya remain on the show.

Also, expect Sanjaya to stick around until the week ending April 28th. On that Saturday the Cricket World Cup champion will be crowned. This is the first time that Idol is up against the extremely popular (at least among viewers from the former and present day British colonies) Cricket World Cup now being played in the West Indies. Fox wants everyone to watch Idol. There are 1.1 billion Indians who are "Cricket Crazy." $$$$$$$$$

Follow the money.

I think you are missing the bigger point here. This means we are 8 weeks away from having Simon quit the show...if Sanjaya wins..Simon says he will leave the show because the credibility will be gone for good. 8 weeks of possibly getting rid of Simon which would mean the show would be thrown into turmoil and the ratings would tank....this is a chain reaction of historic proportions here in TVLAND.

I hope votefortheworst.com, in conjunction with Howard Stern and all other known forces of good, are successful in getting 'Sandgina' voted in as the overall winner of this season of 'American Idiot'. This show is a stupid joke that has gone on for far, far to long. The Idol train should have made it's last stop after holding up Taylor Hicks and the 'pole patrol' as last season's winner.

There was a time when the music industry propped up no talent pop singers with slick production and an overwhelming promotional media blitz, the Freakin' 80's. Now-a-days, thanks to 'idol', every American can participate in the process. Woo fuckin' hoo!!

The only thing that could make watching 'idol' a rewarding expeirience for me would be the immediate, painful, execution of losing contestants (on the set of 'jimmy kimmel live' seeing as the losers seem to end up there first). The execution of losers would at least prevent the spill over of no talent from 'idol' to other entertainment mediums, ie jen hudson and film.

I whole heartedly support your efforts to undermine the 'american idol' phenom... Sandgina has my vote!!

Hey there.I found your Web site from an Article about American Idol.And after Finding it, i've got to say Great Job. While AI does give a great opportunity to some talented singers, there are many more who should not even be on the Hollywood show.I dont know how many times ive watched the Massive Cattle Calls in each City.And have Seen some great Singers in them,some get sent to HollyWood,While others are told no, and yet there a Quite a few who have less talent and make to HW.

I love reading all the posts from Die Hard Idol fans,and it would seem,some have no clue about Freedom of choice.They are so Pissed,or ticked off, swearing at you,how could you do that? Damming you to hell or worse for not Voting for there Favorite Idol. Please.2 years ago i knew something was wrong when Carrie was Crowned Idol Winner, when to me the Clear Cut Winner was Bo. When he was on stage he was electric.And Carrie wins, and goes on to sing Country which is fine,but then she wins new artist at Country awards show, which to me may have been great,but what about all the other Country Singers that were also new that didnt have Carrie's easy way paved for her. Most of them im sure traveled alot, and sang in places Carrie might never have been booked into without winning on AI.

I love what you do.and would love for Sanjaya to be in the top 3,and to see the look on Simons face,wondering how in the world did this happen.

You are right, they do not give a lot of good singers a chance. Jessica Marie was let out the door at this cattle call. They sent a lot of fantastic singers out the door and they never sang to Simon, Randy or Paula. They were dissed by a pre-screener sittng behind a fold out table. And their instructions had to be obvious. NO Good Singers, only bad ones! It needs to be entertaining. It's not entertaining if we can't make fun of anyone. Well, Jessica Marie is just one of the thousands that they dissed for bad singers. But if you're interested. Here is her You tube channel. Both her and her sister sing great and they are from San Antonio too. Maybe Jessica was too rugged? Or maybe not?

Jessica has an awesome voice for rock (compare with Gina, no contest). Anyone with real talent should just go with it and not tie their dreams to the AI crapfest. Seriously, she's much better off not being on Idol if she can land a record deal by herself.

My God I haven't laughed this much in all my life, this has to be the best web-site ever. The hate mail is the best....these folks are really upset, which makes it even more funnier for the rest of us!!! People shouldn't take AI or Life for that matter so serious!!
