Is Jordin Sparks going to get preachy once Idol is over?

Is Jordin Sparks an ultra conservative Christian? One would never guess this from her time on the show since she's all smiles, but it seems that the pimped one might be a little more political than anyone thinks. The picture on the left comes from Jordin's MySpace, and she's been linked to many conservative organizations. She has performed at a Right to Life concert (anti-abortion) and other such events, and it's rumored that she liked Mandisa from last year because of her values (Mandisa was very religious and was quoted as saying she would be uncomfortable singing at a gay event). Jordin can have any opinion she'd like, and it doesn't take away from the fact that she's a good singer, but it seems like her "I love everyone" personality may turn evangelistic once Idol is over. I guess we'll find out once she's off the show. __________________________

Wow......I don't know why I am surprised considering it is a Fox show. Has anyone ever done demographics based on religion of the finalists? I will definitely be spreading the word....too bad, Jordin was my favorite too. __________________________

She was one of my faves outside of the VFTW picks. I even fought on her thread when speculation began. I asked for hard proof, and we got it now. It's sad that she has an alterior motive. __________________________

Actually, this doesn't surprise me at all; Jordin's a nice kid, and a great singer, but it wouldn't shock me in the least if we found out she's a scientologist in disguise... BTW, nice to be here; my letter was in last Friday's mail bag, and I've emailed Dave a few times--nice to meet you all, and here's to the worst!!

I'm assuming this means she's anti-gay as well?

Heh, welcome to the "club", such as it is. :) __________________________

Get her 20 mg of antihistamine before she dies. Because if she doesn't shut up, I'm going to kill her!

Thanks for the welcomes! And yes, I have a feeling she's probably anti-everything--we'll find out soon enough!

Well it's too bad if she is. However she is only 17 after all. And she is going to be in Show Biz. I'm hoping she learns to change her agenda. (such as it is) Cuz I am guessing there may be some gay performers out there. So, I am sticking to my guns with Melinda Do, I happen to like her. Period. Done. __________________________

Why should you assume she has an "alterior" (shouldn't that be ulterior? yah....) motive? And why do you hope she learns to change her agenda? She has every right to be pro- or anti- anything she wants to be. Being 17 and impressionable has nothing to do with it, I had views very similar to hers at 17 and they really haven't changed through my life and I'm in my 30's. I'm a musician and I have refused to perform at a Mormon church as well as an ultra-liberal "church" on Earth Day, both paid gigs, simply because I cannot support either agenda. If I were asked to perform at some gay function I would refuse that as well. Where she performs is her choice (well, up until she wins AI...). I say: Good for Jordin, hang onto your values if that's what you truly believe and don't let people try to tell you what to think. That INCLUDES, btw, pastors and other "religious" people, we as Christians need to be sure that we don't leave our brains at the door just cuz it's a church. There are so many celebrities running their mouths off about politics and the war and using one square of toilet paper, does that really matter? Jordin is standing up for what *she* feels really matters and she has the right to do that as much as anyone else.

That seems like a very out of place reference to Kat Mcphee. If Jordin is a true Christian, there’s no way she’s a scientologist. Fundamental Christians don‘t see scientology as being very compatible with their religion (although there’s enough talk on the side of the scientologist that argues the opposite).
