Did Howard Stern Inadvertently Kick Melinda Off?

This is a really interesting read from Howard 100 News. It talks about the possible rigging of American Idol and what the producers thought about VFTW this year, so make sure to click read more and check out the whole thing.

"Does Howard 100 News owe an apology to American Idol contestant Melinda Doolittle? A source inside the show claims that American Idol was reportedly in a panic yesterday to put the brakes on a Howard 100 News investigation into voting on the FOX talent show. This source alleges the show decided to switch horses at the last minute, that contestant Blake Lewis was allegedly scheduled to be told to go home last night, until Idol producers changed their minds...

Our source claiming Simon Cowell allegedly said quote “F--- Howard Stern,” and added that the Idol result last night would be the opposite of what Howard 100 News reported. All of which might explain the strange subdued mood on American Idol last night. So if the last minute switch is true, Howard 100 News must apologize to the talented Melinda Doolittle.

But now, Howard 100 News reports that another source has revealed a bombshell claim about American Idol; that in 6 seasons only two American Idol’s have been picked by the viewing public, according to our source. The source claims that this season, producers of the show had allegedly decided to go straight, to let viewer votes decide the winner, but panicked when Howard Stern and VotefortheWorst.com backed Sanjaya. The show then reverted back to picking the winner, according to our source. The source claims Sanjaya was running away with the competition, until producers decided to take back control and throw him off the show in spite of Sanjaya’s alleged vote victories.

Bottom line here; three sources telling Howard 100 News Jordin Sparks has long been scheduled to be the winner of American Idol. Now will the producers switch that? There’s one way to clear all this up… release the vote results and prove that American Idol is run according to how the viewers vote. By the way, FOX Television has still not called us back after running off the phone two days ago."

I must have misunderstood something somewhere along the line. I thought somebody wanted the vote counts to be released weekly. Releasing them at the end of the season is a different story. But even then, who’s to keep the producers from fudging them to suit their agenda? They could just as easily lie about the numbers too. Based on what I’ve heard and read, I thought an independent company DID qualify the vote counts, so I’m getting conflicting reports here. You’ll have to present some more facts before I take as truth anything you have to say. Besides, “vote auditing” isn’t exactly a service that’s in high demand by many companies, so any independent contractor that’s going to do it for Fox/19E is not too apt to be regulated by anybody but their own customer. In other words, even an independent contractor will probably be privy to corruption as well. There’s not much checks and balances, and the governments not about to get involved for obvious reasons. The reason they do that thing with the bottom two and three is to build suspense. They’re trying to put the viewer on the edge of his/her seat before announcing who’s going home. It’s true, that could have a tendency to bias the voters on a subsequent week, but that’s the trade off for making the show as entertaining as they can. Even so, it does not have anywhere as much of a biasing effect as would releasing the vote counts weekly. Not even close. And one last thing. Based on what Dave says this site is about, there hasn’t been a “worst” contestant on the show for weeks now. But assuming that the primary intention now was to get Jordin ousted (as she is the “pimped one”), it probably would have made more sense to start backing Melinda as she would have been more likely than Blake to beat Jordin in the finale. The only thing this site might have achieved last week was to push Blake over Melinda, but I doubt you can do the same with Jordin. Of course, that’s just speculation, but if you had the vote counts to work with, you might see how that could work.

I noticed from years past that there was some kind of unusual balance to the winners of American Idol... it was like they were very careful to avoid alienating groups of viewers by having the same sex or race win consistently. But I noticed the all the winners up to that point were within just a few years of each other. So at season five I expected them to deal with the age thing... I remember in the first episode of AI last year, they mentioned that they had raised the age limit for contestants for the year... When I heard that, I thought to myself, "oh, so they are having an older person win this year". Then when I saw Taylor Hicks in the top 24, with his greying hair, I knew he was going to take it home. And since they had an older person win last year I figured that they would have a youngster win this year. So when I saw Sanjaya and Jordin in the top 48, I was pretty certain one of them was going to win. Then, after doing a little research on Jordin, I was sure that she was the chosen one this year. Predicting the winner is a snap when you know the thing is rigged... even in the first few weeks of the show! And you don't even have to listen to them sing. :-)

I wouldn't consider anything connected with Howard Stern to be reliable. On the other hand, it does bug me on how little AI lets us in on how the votes actually stacked up.

If AI (and FOX) kicks off the person that we pick for VFTW, then put Jordin's picture up there (even though we all know we'll vote for Blake.) That way, when she wins, we can say it was because of VFTW that she made it! Wouldn't that just frost their cookies!!

"One need look no further than the "Idol Gives Back" results show when they went down to Jordin as the last contestant before saying everybody was safe. Idiot sheep who watch this show still say it was terrible what they did to poor Jordin (she with the drama queen tears) but I guarantee you that each and every one of those contestants knew they were safe including Jordin. Now if that isn't manipulation, I don't know what the hell is." How lame are you? No i dont believe that they count the votes but i know for a fact that Jordin thought she was going home that night. So go to hell with the "she with the drama queen tears". Jordin is a very nice girl and a great singer. So why are you picking on her anyway? Great articles Clyde but why are you picking on the contestants? Its not thier fault the Fox is rigged.

I agree... I really don't think the contestants are told that American Idol is rigged. Jordin has won many talent contests. It is her world. I can kind of relate because when I was a teenager, I was involved in the world of competative chess. American Idol is like the superbowl for her. I don't think she is "acting" at all... And for those who claim that there are many divas out there just as talented as Jordin... please remember she is only 17 years old. Maybe she is outclassed by more experienced contestants, but if you were looking for the best mostly undiscovered teen-aged talent, I gotta think that Jordin is right up there with the best. Love her or hate her, I think American Idol chose her wisely.

Agreed. I doubt very much the kids are in on whatever schemes the producers have up their sleeves. It would be absolutely foolish to let the contestants in on the producers intentions. Word about it would eventually get out probably.

Clyde, I think you need to grow up and just leave the kids alone. No I dont agree with everything that goes on with AI but I dont talk shit about the contestants. Let them do their thing and have a great life. JORDIN is a great, amazing singer and if you knew her you'd think so aswell.
