Idol Inadvertently Lets Contestant Popularity Slip

Oops, Idol messed up again. This week, American Idol announced that performances could be downloaded from iTunes after the show. What they forgot is that iTunes tracks the popularity of each download... so now we can estimate how many votes each contestant received and where they stand in the popularity rankings. We're happy to see Danny so high. Good work, everyone! Most of the contestants who went home also had very low iTunes rankings. Here's a picture in case Idol learns its lesson and fixes this somehow. Enjoy!

I'm sure someone was shit canned for this ef up. Idol wants ALL their business done in secrecy behind closed doors.

I'm surprised Spinning Wheel was so lowly ranked - altho she's quite robotic a singer, Alexahjgffkdsjfosfkld"" whatever her name is was the best singer on the girls night, by a mile.

Jason Castro could be a buster on any city street, his performance was so forgettable and boring.

Someone please kill Australian Douchebag. I will provide stingrays if you need one.

I think this just helps confirm my sneak suspicion that they gave Colton the boot early!!!!!! They had to send home their last two choices (Joanne and Colton from Hollywood week). Sorry, but aren't we all totally shocked Chikieze (however it's spelled) isn't G.O.N.E.???? It was a toss up between Garrett, Luke, Colton and Jason Y. IMHO; but Chikieze was NO toss up; he surely had the lowest votes!!!!! It's rigged!!!!! I love VTFW (but I couldn't vote for Amy; she was just TOO bad. I love Jason Castro and I think Kady Malloy looks like a spoiled brat bitch!

I find it impossible to believe that *anybody* is buying crappy songs like this in the first place. Gotta be the studios pumping money into iTunes to make it look like the songs are selling. If not, that's truly depressing.

Yes, I got this from like 200 people in my e-mail and in PM's and in posts, so I can't credit everyone, lol. But we definitely appreciate all of the tips!

I love the irony, as iTunes has a disclaimer that they won't let people see who was the most purchased.

Umm...isn't the popularity rating on iTunes based on how many people buy the song? In that case, it doesn't tell us how many votes the contestants received.

the dial idol site was pretty accurate despite low statistical certainty. (I wonder if less people were inspired to vote meaning less busy signals or if the phone companies added capacity to thwart the busy signal tracking)

there was also a voting site that tracked the bottom vote getters pretty well.

I am not sure that who sells the most would necessarily be the top vote getter...I mean people might buy a song they didn't have already even if they voted for a minute and a half light my fire version. People spending money might be a different group from nerds who vote repeatedly too.

This confirms all the girls are super-boring this year, even to AI fans.
