Idol Inadvertently Lets Contestant Popularity Slip

Oops, Idol messed up again. This week, American Idol announced that performances could be downloaded from iTunes after the show. What they forgot is that iTunes tracks the popularity of each download... so now we can estimate how many votes each contestant received and where they stand in the popularity rankings. We're happy to see Danny so high. Good work, everyone! Most of the contestants who went home also had very low iTunes rankings. Here's a picture in case Idol learns its lesson and fixes this somehow. Enjoy!

yes, you both make good points and arguably true; but I am looking for any reason to claim a rig job because I can't believe the two little young underdog guys got the boot over Chikieze and his rotten song and his rotten attitude; his "snappy comebacks" were just snotty; not good or funny or anything... Down with Chikieze! LOL... hee hee... Okay; and Kady Malloy and her fake tears and snot sneer need to go... please don't ever make her a VFTW pick!

This is great, really lets us know who's popular and who's not. I hope the Idol producers won't cover it up. If you can, please post these stats after every performance.

Speaking of slipping, I don't mean to be obsessive, but I checked this out this morning and Danny slipped to "two bars" -- which means he may have sold as much as Colton Berry. So anyway, I'm trying to convince the kids at the official American Idol bulletin boards to buy some Danny.

He just can't get beat by Robbie! yuck. lol

Also, there's a new interview with him and A'siah together on the A.I. website. The first line of her interview made me spit out my water. . . so worth checking out, even though Danny rehashes his old stories (mullet, alien, sounds like a "dead horse" hahaha -- noisy creatures those are, being DEAD.)

edit:

OH YEAH: DANNY WAS ON THE SOUP LAST NIGHT!!! They featured his three great facial features from the judge's comments: the "yes" he gave to the audience after Paula complimented him, the pout when Simon put him down, and the coup de grace: THE HEAD SNAP! It was fiiiiieeerrrce.

If Noriega is doing this well with purchases, maybe he isn't a good candidate for VFTW. We are too late to help Garrett Haley, but maybe Luke, Jason, or Chikezie would have been a better choice. After all your only helping the number six guy instead of the lower 3. You might vote for the worst, but you won't buy the worsts' song.

WHY OH WHY would anyone pay for that Faux Rocker Robbie song?!? Here's the first hint that he isn't a real rocker...his name is ROBBIE!!! If he was serious, he would AT LEAST go by Rob!

He's not doing well with sales at all...

Vote for the Worst is not "vote for the person who needs help." Understand that. We couldn't care less who needs our help, we care who earns our help.

I thought the "popularity" scale wasn't just actual purchases? Doesn't it include SEARCHES for those terms as well? I can see someone reading an article mentioning who did well on the show and searching itunes to listen to 30 seconds of the performance, whether or not they actually want to buy the song.
Don't get me wrong, Idol is shady as hell, but I'm not 100% sure on how these stats reflect their practices...

The real questions is why would anyone pay 99 cents for a song that is only 90 seconds?
You will be bettr off just downloading the orginal. I am actually thinking of downloading Elvis's Suspicious Minds not because i like Colton's verson but because i have always like the song. Also as a fan of Dusty i am going to buy a best of to get the rest of her hits i allready have Dusty in Memphis.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....... doesn't this just prove that Danny Noriega was a bad choice and has enough fans as it is?

Bottom 3 included Garrett, Chikezi and Amy Davis. Not surprisingly, Garrett and Amy Davis went home. Am I supposed to assume that not only did VFTW save Danny, but they also frantically bought his song on ITunes?

Switch to Luke Menard. This is indisputable proof that Danny's gay army will be the one saving him...
