Idol Inadvertently Lets Contestant Popularity Slip

Oops, Idol messed up again. This week, American Idol announced that performances could be downloaded from iTunes after the show. What they forgot is that iTunes tracks the popularity of each download... so now we can estimate how many votes each contestant received and where they stand in the popularity rankings. We're happy to see Danny so high. Good work, everyone! Most of the contestants who went home also had very low iTunes rankings. Here's a picture in case Idol learns its lesson and fixes this somehow. Enjoy!

I'm a fan of VTFW,
but David & Jared are still my favorites. Cmon, how can anyone hate David? :]

You obviously have no idea what the site is about or what Worsters are trying to accomplish. You come across like a someone telling a vegetarian that he should eat less pork and more beef. Go eat your own turkey.

I also wonder if the iTunes numbers are skewed towards the men because the men went a day ahead, so their songs were possibly on iTunes a full day longer than the women?

Which one? The stripper or the emphysemic?

UPDATE: TPTB caught on. Popularity ratings on American Idol purchases on iTunes are now. . . gone! (Which proves this was, indeed, a slip up on the part of TPTB.)

Nope, they're still there. You just have to ask for them.
Search for "American Idol Performance" to get the list of 24. Then right-click on any column title and check "Popularity".

You can also expand the column by dragging the right margin across to see how close it is from 3 to 6 in rankings (David C, Alaina, Michael & Ramiele), and how tight it is for 11th thru 19th.

Both boys & girls songs went on sale Friday. What's interesting to me is that the sequence of the song numbers is almost exactly what the rankings are.

I'm sorry. You're right. When I checked this morning, I promise that they were all at "one bar" and that free thing that comes up with the search was like "full bars". I guess I jumped the gun. Danny's now at a solid "10th place" by the way. We'll see what happens. . . .

Not sure they correspond with the votes. Dialidol is pretty good with their assumptions, and they usually get it right, and the popularity seems to off with the votes.
