What a great results! We helped save Amanda and Danny and helped boot a pretty good singer like Alaina. Amanda and Danny were definitely in real danger, yet they stuck around, so great job helping to vote for them this week! Now let's get them into the top 12 and on to Idol Gives Head. Hopefully Brooke will user her beauty school expertise to really mess up Amanda's hair for her performance next week that we helped save her for. Too bad Robbie's gone so she can't fix his wig.

Not yet, my friend, we may have won this battle, but this war is far, far from over.

I have been laughing for the last 1/2 hour about Alaina's freakout backturned crying and "I can't sing". That was freaking hysterical. I wish she would have flat out refused instead of let herself be talked into doing it. I wish just once somebody would go, "Sing? You've got to be F'ing kidding me", flip off the judges and walk off.
Too bad, out of the blondes I thought she was definitely the best, but a few of them need to go, if only so we can tell them apart.

Excellent point! It explains why Alaina was voted off, even though she was better than others that stayed. Until there’s one of them left, each blonde is at a disadvantage compared to non-blondes because of the “vote splitting” phenomena (check out Wikipedia to see what that means if you don’t already know).

I’m thinking the producers might have intentionally loaded the stage with very nice looking blonds this year to aggravate some vote splitting. That could be their way of putting at an advantage those they want to promote, like Carly, who’s only mediocre in terms of physical beauty, but definitely the best in terms of vocal ability. That way, beauty becomes less of a factor to voters, and vocal ability becomes more. Just a theory.

And BTW, I’m thinking Amanda is still around because of the vote splitting factor even though she was horrible, and NOT so much because of VFTW. Besides, Amanda isn’t that bad. Her disadvantage is that her vocal style isn’t that versatile, although more original, so she’s going to have a hard time choosing the right songs throughout the competition to suit her. In any case, I doubt very much you chose the contestant the producers or even the public would most likely NOT want to succeed.

I realize that at votefortheworst.com, 'the worst' is a figure of speech, not the literal worst. the favorites on this site have to be interestingly bad. But it seems that this week the great masses of AI voters had to be adopting their own vote-for-the-worst strategy and taking it completely straight. Kady, Asiah, and Syesha were hideously out of tune and boring. In no universe of judgement that I can imagine -- from believing that AI should be taken seriously to reward the best singers, to taking it as pure camp and rewarding the least clone-like contestants -- do these ladies survive while Alaina (who can sing a bit) and Alexandrea (who, though her personality may seem a bit canned, at least HAS a personality) get dumped.

IMHO, Amanda's song was not bad at all by AI (low) standards. She isn't even close to the worst in this field. Carly over-sings, and has even less texture than all-time worst rock screamer Ann Wilson. Ramiele supposedly has 'the big voice' but can't deliver the juice i the rising section of Don't Lesve Me This Way. Not that Amanda was good, but wasn't any worse than these two. So, unless you've got a Kristy fetish (she did improve on last week, by neither having or inducing narcolepsy), that leaves only Brooke to be considered as actually 'better' than Amanda. Like Amanda, she sticks out like a sore thumb on this show for not conforming to the Idol visual or vocal ideal, in Brooke's case her otherwise thin voice that actually has a bit of character in the cracks around the edges. She a second-or-third rate folk-rock talent, not as much fun from any perspective as Amanda's fourth-or-fifth rate rock screech and odd belief that framing one's appearance as if entering an Elvira Mistress of the Dark look-alike contest is somehow or original or rebellious (as opposed to merely, well, stupid). But at this point, if any of these 'vocalists' came on the radio, Brooke's the only one I would leave on (as mildly entertaining background music) rather than change the station.

I think I need to go listen to some actual music now...

That results show had me in stitches.... Alaina pulled out all the stops with the blubbery "I can't sing" breakdown and forced all her "girls" to console her..but then she dumped those bitches and moved center stage proudly retaking the spotlight in one big DIVA moment...it was priceless...

and I have to wonder...will Robbie's quest to find his "authentic" self now begin?? oh the angst....

Wow....this was one for the vault....
