Mariah Carey will mentor the Idols

As if we don't hear enough diva music on the show, Randy Jackson reveals that Mariah Carey will be a mentor on this year's show. Does this mean a Mariah Carey theme week? That seems unfairly weighted toward David Archuleta and his melismatic, corny diva-isms. Though it would also mean a hilarious performance from Amanda. Or will it just be another "Music that Mariah likes" week like Gwen Stefani's VFTW victory train wreck week last year? Either way, a terrible week of awfulness is on the horizon, so we're happy either way. Randy is also asked about VFTW in the article and he says, "I don't even know what that's about. It's just more haters cashing in." Come on, dawg. Haters? Sounds a bit pitchy to us.

Morning Worsters.
Maybe we'll get lucky and Mariah(huh!) will have a wardrobe malfunction and we'll all get a good shot of her real talent's and assets! WHOLY MACARONI! That sure would get the ratings up for the Craptastic Sespool blindly followed show... AKA A.I.

Shout OUT to my Worster Bretheren!

All the more reason to keep Amanda as the VFTW pick. A lot of people clearly have something against her.

Hehe, I voted for Michael Johns. If it woulda let me vote based on my username rather than my IP address, I would have voted for Carly too. Can't stand that skank.

The only time I thought Mariah was ok was when she toned it down in a duet with Brian McKnight. Even then, Brian McKnight carried the duet.

Mariah Carey has a 5+ octave vocal range.
The average AI contestant has 2, maybe 3 at best.
I predict lots of screeching and missed high notes.
Excellent.

Randy never ceases to amaze me, and not in a good way. Think about the sheer idiocy of calling Mariah, Celine, and Whitney the best ever. They couldn't even get a whiff of the Top 20 of the last two decades. It makes me wonder how the panel would have responded to Ella Fitzgerald. I mean, think about it: she wasn't blonde, she wasn't a whore, she wasn't at all pretty, she didn't feel the need to screech out glory notes, and she probably would have looked pretty boring just standing up in front of the microphone. The three stooges have very little appreciation of pure vocal tone, subtlety of phrasing, appropriate tempo, and just the simple ability to carry a melody. I can hear Randy now, "You know, dawg, it was just all right for me." Simon would probably tell Ella, "You haven't really connected with a song yet; your problem is that you're forgettable. I'm sorry, that's just the way it is."

Did anyone notice that in the Yahoo poll Archuleta's pulling a fairly strong third at 11%? There's a backlash a brewin'...

wtf only been a VFTW member for 49 weeks 6 days, never spoke, just power voted, and read hilarious blogs, but this announcement finally made me speak up, or should I say throw up, she is the cause of worldwide projectile vomiting. Off to play Eminem's song "Puke", go Amanda

I'm hoping it means they all have to get hepped up on whatever Mariah was on that one time on TRL.

I'd love for someone to sing "Someday" with that horrible screeching Mariah tries to pass off as singing at the end of the song. What a complete and utter mess this will be-can't wait!
