SImon even said today that his new favorite is David Cook. That should tell us something. Like I said,, he wasn't as good as they said.

I think it is more retarded to be so close minded as to think that someone who smiles a lot is retarded. That has nothing to do with retardation. It is amazing what society sees as retarded. I found him intelligent for not being a retard who uses drugs, who drinks and drives, who forgets about values, who doesn't care about school, who cusses at everyone.. I find those people retarded. I find someone like David Archuleta intelligent, and if he is happy... thennn he should be the way he is no matter if the retarded people don't accept it.

The article was interesting - claims Davey's dad harrassed a certain competitor named Tiffany. I'm almost certain she doesn't currently have a record deal - any chance they could bring her onto the show?

Tigger, you may be right about the Asperger diagnosis. I'll have to watch him more closely, but one of the hallmarks of any form of autism is a deficiency in what they call "theory of mind." What that means is that, to a certain extent, people with autism don't realize that others have thoughts, feelings, opinions, etc., that may be different from their own. Archie's blank smile in the face of the judges' critism might have been a sign that he didn't fully grasp that they thought he was awful. Also, I mentioned on another post his comment on the video before his song that "My father was a jazz musician, so he liked jazz." That's just the kind of obvious, redundant statement I can hear my son, who also has Asperger's, making. One final note, another common trait of autism is a really obsessive special interest or a special talent that surfaces at an early age. I'm not convinced of this diagnosis yet, but it's definitely something to keep an eye on.

perhaps working with idol contestants was just a way to beef up the resume... it meant working with david archuleta. but "idol contestants" sounds more dramatic and credible to the wide width of scope of the company's extensive talents.

This is kinda weakass as far as scandals go, that guy in Utah probably has zero contact in Hollywood. Title should read: "Gaspchuleta's dad is a giant douchebag and has been traumatizing his kid for years".

The kid definitely has some talent (not great), so I'll give him a break. He also claimed he sang one of the song in Dreamgirls 300 times (an obsession) in one day (Idol site). Nobody sings a song 300 times unless he's exaggerating (most likely) or else he has obsessive-compulsive disorder.
This is more like a Jackson 5 story, it might hurt him a little bit but he will still be in the top 3.
