Do Not Enter the American Idol Songwriting Competition

The lame songwriting contest is back on American Idol this year. Should you enter? Of course not! AmericanIdolExposed has a great site that explains just why you shouldn't waste your time. Among the reasons:

  • The contest promotes itself as finding "amateur" or "undiscovered" songwriters, but that isn't the case. The winners of the contest last year, Scott Krippayne and Jeff Peabody, had already written 14 number 1 hits and 20 top 10 hits for artists like John Tesh, Jaci Velasquez, and Rebecca Saint James.
  • 10 different songwriters who made the short list last year had prior working relationships with either American Idol judges Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, American Idol bandleader Rickey Minor, American Idol Host Ryan Seacrest, a former American Idol finalist, or Fox Television.
  • Idol made $ 250,000 last year by charging each of the 25,000 entrants a $10 fee. Why charge a fee to enter a contest that's rigged for professional songwriters anyway?

Notice how when the voting starts up, the songwriters aren't listed? How have the plants infiltrated everything associated with American Idol? Isn't it about time American Idol stops blatantly lying to its viewers?

You didn't think they charged a fee? Of course they do. All they want is money. That's what the entire show revolves around: corruption, lies, and money.

But, hey, maybe it's not so bad that they charge money. Maybe Simon might buy a few shirts that actually fit him, oh, and have buttons all the way up.

Last year, a friend of mine sent in a song. It was great, 6 bajillion times better than "This Is My Now".

AI sucks.

Hello all-great Vote for the Worst followers! Not sure exactly where to post this, so if you could respond and grant me your opinion/knowledge, I would greatly appreciate it. It says that this site was made to vote for the contestants that the producers would least like to see win, but, honestly, you and I both know that this show is the most rigged, blatantly lying television show, and they just pick to win whoever they think would reel in the most "mula". Then why do we bother to vote? Just to piss the producers, and fans, off? (By the way, it does work quite well, you have my respect.) As a most devoted follower of Vote for the Worst, I would really like to know.

God...American Idol disgusts me more and more every day. Not to be even more cynical but, does anyone think there's shenanigans and fraud going on with 'Idol Gives Back' as well? Just a thought...

I think you've answered your question for the most part. But if everything was rigged, why was Sanjaya on for so long when more talented singers wer thrown under the bus?? Oh, that's right! Viewship = ratings = advertising revenues!!! No matter how one looks at it, AI just keeps defying logic.

Don't you imagine that those pro songwriters were recruited/invited to participate? Imagine the number of songwriters who turned them down so the stink of AI wouldn't get on them.

I absolutely looooooooooooove this site! It's quite scary to think how I'd be living now had I resumed my Idol-ism starting from last season. God really is amazing! You're site is one of his tools to help save the world of a possibly tragic outcome of this insanely grotesque show. From the truth about Kellie P to Garrett Haley's unfair song choice to this, I absolutely salute your site.

Now if only the rest of the planet would stop reacting to the logo of this site and actually READ what's inside.
