And who chose these boring-ass people for our viewing pleasure...?
And you know Simon, you shouldn't really use the words 'pull out' in relation to contestants. I mean, you shouldn't be 'in' them in the first place...

Who chose this boring group of 24.
How can they choose songs that give a "sense of who they are" when they're limited most weeks to songs before they were born.
Earning that $30 million or whatever this clown makes.

Leelee:
Given that the average age of the contestants is probably all of 18, and given that the music that's been put out on their watch has been some of the worst dreck ever conceived, I for one am glad they have to delve into the past... and I still don't recognize half the flippin' songs they pick. If I were king, they'd do nothing but classic and progressive rock, with maybe a nod to disco one week to keep it interesting. But I'm funny that way.

I think Simon honestly can be the best judge there is. Lots of honest constructive criticsism, and praise when it's called for. I USUALLY agree w/ him on his comments..but this is at the BEGINNING of the season, before they start "throwing" the competition towards whomever the producers feel should be in the finals then ultimately win the contest. That is when Simon starts saying that a HORRIBLE performance was someone's best..and when someone does a AMAZING job, and he tells them it was wrong song choice/karaoke, etc.
To me..Simon makes a VERY bad liar. I can always sence when he is being "forced" to root for a contestant that honestly is not his favorite.
I can't even watch this debacle anymore...they all suck. I just watched a few performances on line and
Brook's attempt at singing HERO??? OMG....gag me. What a DRIP she is.
Anyone care for my opinion? Welp..you are getting it whether you want it or not, haha!
... That with all the controversy this season, HONESTLY....
They should have come on the air last night and said "Due to the overwhelming controversy, mediocrity and BOREDOM caused by this season of American Idol, we have chosen to send them ALL home, and start all over again NEXT season..when we TRULY find the top 24 EVER!!! -- Seacrest OUT."

You hit the nail right on the head about Simon and the other so-called judges. When it comes down to it, this year as a whole is even a bigger joke than last season.

Loved it! I loved your reply! I've been thinking basically the exact thing with all of these damned "plants". These producers seems to not have enough faith in America enough to discover someone (unknown) and choose the next (UNKNOWN) hot talent!
Like you said, they should just end this farce of an AI season right now and choose their winner because apparently "they" already have one...so why need us?

Name a single contestant this year who has the balls to shout out something like "Welcome to the Universe of Sanjaya" ... That's why we love the Papaya!
Producers got what they paid for - in their attempt to prevent another Sanajaya Revolution, they stripped the show of its soul. The collapse in ratings is the true VTFW Victory!!

It's safe to say that at this stage of the game the kids know how to play the game. They know how to play it safe, give safe interview answers and pick songs that people know and are relatively safe; not songs that define them. Simon has a lot of nerve saying they are boring...he picked them.
If the show wants to stay current they will have to rethink the format. Put them back in a house, show outtakes of their interactions; give them challenges, like picking wardrobe, show them at song selection time, give the audience an opportunity to see some personality, not just the canned crap they "think" we want to see.
Without a major overhaul, the show is on it's way to the day-old bread store. Heck, it's already there.

This is so true!
When they cut the "Hollywood Week" behind-the-scenes interactions and then they stopped doing the Group Sessions, we lost about 65% of getting to see the real personality of the contestants.

Well, it's about time someone on the show said what everyone already knows.
But I guarantee that next week, Ryan will still be blathering on about how they're "TEH BEST TOP 6 EVAH!!!111!!!"
