It's kinda obvious though...the way David Archuleta always has a "blazing hot performance" even when he's mediocre, while Syesha gets an "OK" at best even when she has the best performance of the night. Unfortunately, 13 year old girls voting for Archie think he IS the best singer out there - even the judges seem to 'agree' with them! The judges and the producers know who they *want* to win...and make sure they DO win.

Haha, this is funny only because I would not want to hear her sing over and over either. In my opinion, if someone can sing, they can sing, and if they can't, no amount of lessons can make it any better. Anyways, she's also assuming that that the audience is stupid in that the producers can manipulate the viewers into voting their way. For me, I would like to think most of us are smarter than that. Also, I don't see how Clay would have gotten more time on wardrobe when it was just always a button up shirt, unless you count that ugly leather jacket.

Yes! Somebody give Carly some sleeves, we're sick of seeing those damned ugly tattoes. And maybe a dress with an empire waist so her fat stomach doesn't blob out everywhere. UGH!

Yep, Idol is slowly going belly up so we will see LOTS more stories like this. When it was at its peak no one would touch these types of stories but now that there are some chinks in the AI armour all the media will be looking to tear off a strip

That may have happened back then, but now it's about equal treatment for all the contestants - equal time with the vocal coaches - equal amount of stipends for clothing and makeup - that sort of thing. For fashion - well, they get some advice, but it's really up to the person.
Take a look at KKKristy - she so improved her wardrobe and fashion style along the way she truly looked like a Star near the end. While Carly the plant - the fashion advice given to her really made me doubt she was a plant because her sense of fashion was bloody awful!
Something else that is happening today that's different in the past, contestants are hiring their OWN Vocal Coaches - that's right - they have their own vocal coaches with them in L.A. - I've heard a few of the idols speak about this while being interviewed. They are not depending on AI for anything - they are depending on themselves for vocal training - they know only that will get them ahead.
So in the early days it may have been unequal treatment, but today, the AI's know how to remedy that type of treatment - they depend on themselves by getting their own vocal coaches, their own fashion coaches and their own make-up and hair stylists - and it does pay off for them.
Though if I had a pair of scissors and a stoned Jason Castro in the room with me, those Dreds would be layin' on the floorboards.

This smells like sour grapes to me. "I didn't win, so instead I'll criticize everybody and claim preferential treatment!"
Maybe Clay got more lessons because he sucked and needed the help? Maybe you got less help because they thought you sounded fine and didn't need it? Maybe you got no wardrobe advice because you know how to dress yourself without looking like a complete nerd, unlike Clay did.
Maybe other people ASKED for more help? Standing around, feeling like you're not getting enough help is stupid. You've got to be proactive in a competition like this.
