Brooke White is the New VFTW Pick!

As we say goodbye to Kristy, we say hello to Brooke White. The sun rises on a brand new era in VFTW history. Everyone's sure this is her last week in the competition, so let's try to save her for one more week if possible. Her mental instability is the greatest of any Idol contestant ever, meaning we could get some VFTW gold this week. And if not, the resulting breakdown from her elimination will still be fun. We'd like to try to delay it by a week or two if possible though. Good luck, Brooke, and don't cry. You've got a whole ton of new power voters picking up the phone for you this week and we're crazy about you!

Here at VFTW, the vote is merely a suggestion. Same as AI.

The sun will rise again! How funny would it be if Brooke won?

That'd be one epic breakdown!

If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

This is Idol's 7th season. By now, Brooke should expect the consequences which come from being on a show like Idol: the scrutiny, the fact that people will talk about you, that fame comes with fans, but also with haters, etc.

I think every kid who embarks on a huge show like that should know what's coming: pressure, and a lot of.
If Brooke can't take it and it makes her all "emotional and nervous", then she shouldn't be on idol.

you don't think psychic damage can be done by saying she's mentally unstable as well? That's all I'm saying. People start to repeat what's said on here. This isn't just a frivolous "little" website anymore. If she read half of what was said about her here, she probably wouldn't able to sing or perform her best.

I agree she should know it would be tough to be on the show- but she probably didn't know how tough.

What I am saying is Idol calls people who audition and are in the semifinals bush babies, fat, etc, etc. You guys pick up the slack and call people mentally unstable afterwards.

Hmm. This is an odd choice.

Babbling Brooke might be a big crybaby who doesn't know when to shut up, but I don't see how her winning would upset the judges and/or producers in any way. Even though most winners are groomed for a pop career, the most notable exception to that trend is Carrie Underwood, who went on to a hugely successful country music career. Brooke could probably do well in the country genre (and she's already toured with Phil Vassar) but she would most likely be pushed as a Carole King-type singer/songwriter.

I rarely listen to the radio anymore, but when I do it's public radio, where there is an abundance of mellow chick singers. There was just a big article in Entertainment Weekly about "the new wave" of female singer/songwriters, which focused on the recent successes of artists like Ingrid Michaelson, Yael Naim and Kate Walsh, not to mention Feist's pop/commercial breakthrough. Like her or not, with all this momentum behind singers of her type, Brooke would probably have a good shot at making the transition from AI to the real world. She also seems to have a pretty big fan base, if you believe what you read on the Internetz.

The thing is, I have very little sympathy for people who go on shows like that. After all, they're the ones who chose "reality" TV as a vehicle to chase their own dreams, and with the media these days, you just have to expect this kind of backlash.

And believe me, it's not just here that people call Sunshine a boring, obnoxious, psychotic bitch (just a few of my personal pet names for her).
