I'm with you BeckEye. Brooke isn't the anti-AI pick VFTW normally supports. Even if she wins, it isn't a travesty. Jason would have been a better choice. Not much better, but better.

Good choice - by the way, on the Washington Post TV page they have an AI blog - the comments are very VFTW style, and they call Brooke "Ba-Nanny," they see she is unstable, and enjoy the unpredictability that she brings. I think she is the only chance we have of making this snoozefest a little entertaining. Also, even though she is a Mormon, that camp (including Donny Osmond) is behind Archuleta.

I have a prediction for ALW week - she sings "I don't know how to love him" from JC Superstar, hiding behind the piano looking frightened and confused. Randy says - "pitchy dawg," Paula - "hm bleg mflsei dgoiendhgh dgned!! You are who you are!" and Simon - "You know, in the broadway show that song is sung by a whore, and I think you finally made the emotional connection that has been missing." Brooke says "thats OK,OK, OK." Seabiscuit gropes and puts his arm around her shoulder, she bitchslaps him, and that gets her the votes she needs!

Oh, come on! Let's look at the real picture here. Every music star has an image, sometimes deliberately cultivated, sometimes acquired through onstage persona and/or offstage antics, often both. And there isn't a pop, rock, country or opera star on Earth who doesn't know what his/her public image is.

Brooke knows she comes across as a crybaby. She made fun of it herself on the last show. If she doesn't already know that she also looks very much like she's gonna have a major breakdown at any moment, she should be made aware of it. She HAS to know what her image is. That's the only way she can make it work for her. Or, if she doesn't want to be known as the sweet but overly sensitive meltdown-ready folksy girl, she has to know about it before she can change it.

Any good manager would tell her the same thing. Besides, it could very well be that this "mentally unstable" image is working for her. It got her our votes, didn't it? And if she's truly and deeply emotionally fucked up, she might write better songs because of it. Lots of successful musicians aren't playing with a full deck, so to speak, and it usually makes their music a helluva lot more interesting.
