These professionals presumably have many years of continious training, the AI idols at best appear to have months.

Yes, she does seem like a nice kid, and she cracked me up before the Super Bowl when she said in an interview that her dad, a former NFL player, was glad that someone in the family finally made it to a Super Bowl. I thought that was cute and funny and normal teenaged giving dad a hard time sort of stuff.

I want Archuleta to win it all. I cannot for the life of me envision how this kid could be succesful or marketable. He is dreadfully boring. His style does not fit the mold of what's popular. I agree with you. Plenty of people sing on their own without a vocal coach or anything like that. Besides, it's not like the contestants were kidnapped and forced to scrape their vocal cords on TV for national amusement.

Yeah after seeing how they blew it with Daughtry, I don't think they're going to make the same mistake twice and they'll set up David Cook for the win. Archie will get the "shock" elimination near the finale.

Funny, I think exactly the same thing, but I reckon it's gonna happed with David Cook; he'll be the "shocking elimination", although I wouldn't be surprised one bit if he made it to the finale. Battle of the Davids, with Wittle Archuleta taking the cake.
Let's face it, Arch is the perfect poster-boy for an Idol win. Th producers can do what the fuck they want with that kid, it's not like he's gonna protest any decision that they'll make for him or anything.
DC is another story, I just don't see him recording some crappy bubblegum pop-album at all, so he might not be quite so easy for them to manipulate, nor to market as a pop, or pop-rock artist.
So I say top 2 or 3 for him, then BAM, out.

As for the posters above, about Idol ruining the contestants' voices, and the workload and all that, I actually do believe that Idol will push these kids as much as they can, and that they probably do have pretty insane schedules.
That said, I think most of their obligations will have to do a lot more with promotion, cross-promotions, and anything that will give Idol visiblity, than with actual singing.

ETA: I never liked Jordin, but I really don't wish her anything bad, at all, so I hope she gets well soon.

Reality TV Magazine reports that Jordin, who is scheduled to go on tour with Alicia Keys, has canceled numerous concerts because of an acute vocal cord hemorrhage condition. Their "sources" say she will not be able to tour until perhaps the end of April.
