Congresswoman Jackie Speier Admonishes Fremantle
California Congresswoman Jackie Speier just released a statement today that supports our friends on the American Idol Truth Tour. In the press release we received, Speier says, "Madam Speaker, I have watched “American Idol” with my teenage daughter on many occasions. I am well aware of its impact on society and the enormous profits it generates for Fox Television and its producers and advertisers. In 2007, the show allegedly generated over $200 million in profits for the Fox network, while FremantleMedia’s worldwide profits exceeded $1.8 billion. Why then, are they unable to pay a fair and equitable wage to its employees who provide the written content or other services that make these shows so successful?" We don't know, but we hope this gets picked up by enough media outlets that Fremantle will have to respond. Thanks for the support, Jackie!

Next thing you know is it is going to reach Congress and it is going to be Fremantle vs. California.
I don't care about the writers. They need to pay for some decent songs first.
I actually support Idol on this because NO-ONE should be paid for writing those god awful jokes for Ryan Seacrest.

Good Lord people, read the articles. This isn't about American Idol writers.
Well, I don't know about the guy above me but I was just kidding. You can't pay Simon Cowell, what was it?, $15 million? and not pay the people who actually put him on TV and(if the story about scripted comments is true)tell him what to say on the air lousy wages with little or no health care.

Good Lord Dave, read the article. It says: "its employees who provide the written content" so if you don't want people to think it's about the American Idol writers, you might want to reword the fucking article.
I think I just had the misguided theory that people who read this website are smart and attentive. ;-)
