Jason Castro's Money Hungry Family Part 2

We just received this letter in our inbox and had to share it. Jason Castro's greedy, pathetic family actually propositioned Idol Forums posters to fund a mission trip for Jason's girlfriend. Pathetic! Here is the message we got:

"I saw on the website about Jason Castro and his family. I was a really big fan of him while he was on the show, and often read the message boards. One day, I logged into IDF and noticed that I had a PM from one of the other posters on the Jason Castro forum. The PM asked me if I would be willing to donate money to send Jason's GIRLFRIEND on a mission trip. That's right...his girlfriend!! What really got me was that this was a request from his mother. When a woman from the board asked what kind of gift Jason would like from his fans, she suggested that everyone donate so that Jason's girlfriend Mandy can go on a mission trip. I was shocked that his family and friends would be using his fame in order to benefit themselves. When I posted my opinions on IDF, one of the brainwashed freaks told me that "Mission Trips are close to Jason's heart". That may be true, but I refused to take part in funding them for him or his family and friends!"

People that go on mission trips believe thay are doing the Lord's work, teaching others to dedicate their lives to Jesus. Evangelicals think they are "saving" people.

Third world countries and prisons are ideal for missionaries, because the people are thrilled to receive a few goodies with a bible included.

BUT a missionary trip can be anywhere. The joke is Jason's girlfriend went to Destin, Florida for the summer for her missionary work.

O.k is this their last attempt to get rid of the girlfriend before driving her down a long dark dirt road?

Well, SOMEONE'S gotta do the mission work. Jason skipped out on a mission to some third world country or other (don't remember which offhand) to be on Idol...because we all know that a stoner singing Over the Rainbow is doing important work for God (considering how the fans diefy him...maybe he IS God and all of us lowly people should send him lots of money to send his very own Mary Magdalene to Florida).

Yes, I'm probably going to hell for that last sentence. It's worth it.

Guys, there's no need to bash mission trips and religion. Like in every organization in the world, there's bad people. Of course some people in the Christian community don't have the best interests for strangers, a lot of them just think about themselves.

Also, what difference makes that the girl went to Florida? I think we are all missing the point. Why the hell would a middle-high class woman would ask for those kinds of things? That's the sad thing about this. If she was really trying to help other people, just tell the fans to donate the money to a charity.

I don't know...maybe she was high for all we know. Shit, it could've been a different kind of "trip" for all we know.

Keep hittin' that shit, Jason!

Sorry if it sounded like I was bashing.
Actually, I'm all for people of faith. I just know WAY too much about missionary work, cause that's what my family is into.
My point is they basically sent Mandy(jason's gf) to a resort for two months, while he was touring. She did attend a Southern Baptist convention, but it's not exactly mission work.
Asking Jason's fans to fund the trip is just warped.

His girlfriend can do a Mission trip to the homeless in Dallas. Why does she have to go somewhere else? Aren't there any people in their own backyard they can do "mission work" for?

Go feed the homeless or VOLUNTEER to serve them food or something in your own backyard.

That has to be some sort of scam or something.

"There's a sucker born every minute", P.T. Barnum. Those folks running Idol can certainly confirm that theory.

And, beg my pardon, but I always have and will continue to bash mission work. I find prosthelytizing to be the height of arrogance. It plays on the assumption that ones' religion is the only correct one and shows a total lack of respect for the beliefs of the target.
I've always interpreted the need to try to push one's values and beliefs on another as a psychological method of shoring up one's own shaky religious foundation by trying to convince others of the absolute truth of said beliefs.

Then you would not be bashing mission work itself...you would be bashing the methods being used.

I agree with you in certain degree. It would be unfair to put your religion as the absolute truth, and putting it as if it was the only real one in the world.

However, there's people that do mission work for the purpose of bringing a little hope to people that don't have many. And they try to do it the right way, just talking and explaining, without trying to impose anything.

Anyway, what happened with the Castro's really suck, because it gives people more reason to think that way you do. It's really hard to blame anyone for having this point of view after these things happen.
