Nigel Lythgoe's Getting Crankier

Ex-American Idol producer (man, it feels good to say that) Nigel Lythgoe ranted to the New York Post about Idol's new changes. Nigel, sounding bitter about probably being fired, said, “I don’t like fourth judges. I think once you’ve been told ‘You suck,’ you don’t need to be told another three times." Oh really, Nigel? Reality Blurred makes the awesome point that "his criticism makes little sense. It’s not okay to be told “you suck” four times, but three times is perfectly fine? And seriously, this is the man who produced a show that delights in torturing its contestants during elimination episodes for our alleged entertainment." Hilariously true. And then Nigel clarifies that he didn't mind a fourth judge as a guest, just not permanently. So apparently it's OK to be told you suck four times as long as one of the times is from a guest. It's so nice to see him gone. He clearly was one of the people fucking this show up beyond recognition.

But you don't get told "you suck" three times. You get told "You suck," "Mmm, I dunno, it was iffy for me dawg," and "You are so beautiful, your colors came through, you need to keep being what you are... but you need to *REPEAT WHAT RANDY SAID*"

A third coherent judge who offers constructive criticism would add something.
