American Idol Just Can't Stay Out of the News

No matter what, American Idol is seemingly always in the news. Can't the judges, producers, and former producers take a break from famewhoring for 10 minutes? Paula's been blubbering about her dead stalker Paula Goodspeed, and former producer and current douche nozzle Nigel Lythgoe just had to weigh in on Goodspeed's suicide. Figured. Nigel says, "To sort of tie that to an audition on 'American Idol' I find ... upsetting, and for it to continually to be raked over, I find upsetting for her family." Sure, Nigel. You profit off of exploiting crazy people and then say that your show embarrassing them in no way affected them...

TMZ also reports that this season of Idol is going to be more Big Brother-ish with backstage fighting taking precedence. Fine with us. We need to get to know these people better, and the more fighting someone does, the more likely we are to make them the VFTW pick. Because, really, what did we know about someone like Syesha Mercado besides the fact that she's batshit crazy, has a nice rack, and can make irritating baby noises? Or maybe that's because there really is nothing else to know about her...

Ok now riddle me this batman, how will AI push the "This is the closest top 12 ever!111!!" angle and the "We are all best friends and so supportive of each other!" angle if they allow America to see the back biting and pettiness? That might make the summer Idol tour a tough sell if the fantards think they all hate each other.

If they're bitching all the time, it will be super hard to sell the tweentards on cheesy group numbers. Let's hope this new "strategy" of theirs means there won't be any!

The "Big Brother" crap didn't work for "The One" or "Rock Star". It's not gonna work for Idol, either. If they go through with this, watch the ratings crash.

We didn't find out that Syesha is batshit crazy until she  started blogging on the tour :)

I wish they've done this last season, that way people could have seen how amazing people the season 7 contestants are... Like Syesha, a lot of people weren't able to see how kind, wise and optimistic a person Syesha is,instead a lot see her as an arrogant person with a distasteful personality.

I am not so sure this is a good idea except maybe for us to choose a worst to vote for. Other than that, I have a feeling the bickering and petty crap will just serve to annoy me rather than entertain me. I guess I will just have to wait and see..
