Parents' Television Council is Angry at the Idol Finale

The idiots at the Parents' Television Council are mad about the Idol finale. What was there to be mad about? It was one of the more entertaining episodes of Idol in years. Apparently the PTC is angry that Kara DioGaurdi took her dress off, Bikini Girl made an appearance, and the Black Eyed Peas performed a song with swear words in it. Oh... we get it. They've gone blind because they saw Kara's nasty body, deaf because they listened to the Black Eyed Peads perform, and envious after seeing Katrina's new boobs. Yeah, we can see those points. Or they're just homely old shrews who need to get a life. One or the other.

I posted the following on the "Bikini Girl" Video comment section. It seems to fit here as well............

Personally, I kept watching the show, wondering if the show's producers had received advice from satan........Just when I thought the word "DISTASTEFUL" had reached the pinnacle of its meaning....... here comes "I'm about to lose my top" Bikini Girl. Is this American Idol or Playboy Mansion? Then, Ryan Seacrest takes his "shot" at Bikini Girl, basically announcing her chest enhancement......... then, when I think it can't possibly get any worse, here comes an AI judge "stripping down" for a good cause.

Here's a good cause folks..........designing an American Idol finale that doesn't look as though it was produced by Larry Flint or Hugh Hefner.

If the constant flashes of near-nudity were not enough, the Fergie and Black-Eyed Peas segment felt like a concert for a Drug Dealer Convention in the ghetto.

The AI girl contestants performed in dresses short enough to solicit offers from a pimp, or at least Hooter's.

What ever happened to genuine, decent, quality entertainment? Has the American culture become so dumbed down and pornographic in thought that Hollywood believes the only things that will entertain us are "inflated breasts" and bad rap music?

Had it not been for the incredible guitar licks of Carlos Santana and the sing-along memorable song of Rod Stewart, the finale would have just gone up in smoke.........basically did anyway.

The finale was just dark.........that may sound strange.........but it was dark and weird, like a bad B-grade movie. It was part Hustler Magazine and part Rocky Horror Picture Show........an insult to intelligence. Again, it was........DARK, silly, trashy, cheesy, distasteful, shameless and just plain stupid.

God gave people brains.........too bad the AI producers didn't use theirs to make a show that provided some resemblance to just a little bit of quality entertainment.

I'm a christian and I didn't see anything that was considered "bad". Ok, maybe "a little". But for hell's sake, we see worse in these mind numbing soap operas and these teeny soaps such as 90210...and whatever crap show that's popular. I saw Kara sing, then tear her dress apart and I wanted to throw up.

Other than that, I thought the finale was the best AI pulled.

Can't please everyone

Dixie:

The reason why TV stations broadcast crap is very simple. You thought the show was distasteful, but you continued to watch the program anyway - all of it. Including every commercial (whether you paid attention to them, or not). No one forced you. I'm sure your television has an On/Off button but you decided not to use it.

Listen, it's not like they were showing this on Nickelodeon or Noggin. I'm not sure what people expect, really. It's a prime time show with a wide audience. They have never claimed to be "family entertainment."

Bikini Girl and Kara's show was just that; a show. It was not a big deal. I happen to like the Black Eyed Peas...you can't understand what they're saying half the time, anyway. I thought the show was fun. It was the best episode all year (that's not saying alot...but it's something).

Also, this is nothing new. People have complained about adult content on TV since I was a child...remember "Laugh In"? Most of my friends weren't allowed to watch it back then (my family just happened to be a little more open-minded...we loved it and watched it together every Monday night).

You can write all the letters you want and make all the phone calls you want, but in the end - you watched. That's what matters.

The AI finale was racy!?! What show was I watching?

I've seen more T & A in the JCPenney catalog and on the Miss USA pageant.

geesh...prudes.

Hi Batgirl,

Thank you for your response. Yes, I did watch the show in its entirety, waiting to see who won. Now, someone might say, "Well, why didn't you just turn on the TV during the last 10 minutes to see who won Idol?"

1. I watched the entire show and kept thinking that maybe some of the former Idol contestants such as Clay Aiken, Ruben, Kelly or Bo Bice might show up and sing.

2. I did enjoy Carlos Santana and Rod Stewart, and thought maybe some other good entertainers might show up as well.

Now, before anyone awards me the titles of "Old Fogey" or "Old-Fashioned" or "Out of Touch".........or even "Whiney Christian", let's look at it this way........

Let's look at the show without putting any kind of religious or moral spin to it. I know there are probably Christians, atheists, heterosexuals, homosexuals, young people, old people and even other entertainers who thought parts of the show were just plain trashy and stupid. It had nothing to do with morality to them, it was just trashy.

Many people prefer to entertain themselves with something other than trash and "bleeped out" ghetto music. Consequently, I am one of MANY who feel this way and would prefer a "TALENT" show, not "The Hustler Magazine Award Show"!

Sorry Dixie if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it's a duck. You are a Christian prude. You were probably hoping that Dead Wife Gokey and Pastor Rolex came out and saved us all. This was one of the most entertaining finales of this crap show. The Black Eyed Peas can be heard on the radio and it's not like AI broadcasted any obscenity. Get over yourself.
