Former American Idol semifinalist Alaina Whitaker's band Chasing Dixie got a mention on GAC's Headline Country July 30th. We're always rooting for the Idol contestants who do things without having to sign over their souls to 19E, so good luck to her.

There's a reason she lost American Idol; she's not a great singer, in my opinion at least. She's not the worst thing in the world, but she probably only got as far as she did because she looks amazing, in my opinion at least.

"Chasing Dixie"? Is that like a cheaper version of Dixie Chicks?

I liked this girl - her version of More Today Than Yesterday was superb - not sure why she tripped so badly the week after. But hon, if you're three blondes doing country you might want to avoid the word 'Dixie' in your name...it makes you look like a cheap knockoff.

I actually know the girls....although they have "Dixie" in their name...they make different music than the Chicks. The inside scoop is that the name was picked before all three of them were together. I guess during auditions. The girls changed it a while back. They are just waiting for their management to let them put it out htere.
