According to E! Online, David Cook's older brother Adam lost his battle with brain cancer and died early this morning. David announced the sad news at the Race for Hope this morning, a marathon to help benefit research for brain cancer. David's team raised over $99,000 for brain cancer research, which is an amazing accomplishment. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Cook family and we applaud David for his charity work to help future brain cancer patients like his brother.

I am so sorry to hear this. I have three brothers and can't imagine losing one of them, especially to such a vicious disease. The Cook family will be in my prayers.

I've known so many young people that have died of brain cancer in the past few years - just heartbreaking. David Cook is a very dedicated individual to participate in this event so soon after his loss...not mention a very good speaker.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I've talked a lot of smack about David Cook in the past, but that's some outstanding dedication to the charity. I don't even know how I would react. All the best to him and his family.

I hope David knows how many people support him right now.

On a side note, he's great at speaking.

What a wonderful thing for him to do one day after he loses his brother. That really speaks volumes about his character. How uplifting.

I lost my grandfather a year and a half ago to brain cancer. It was such a horrible experience to see him fight as hard as he did. The most memorable moment in my life was holding his hand as he took his last breath.

My prayers are with the Cook family during this time.

Yeah. My heart goes out to him. I know we like to be all snarky and irreverent and even ill-mannered at times, but when push comes to shove, I truly believe`we bear no real malice toward our AI targets (although Danny Gokey is really testing that). When real life intrudes like this, we put fun and games aside and show respect and compassion. That's what I love about us.

Condolences to David and his family. To many people passing at way to early of age and I pray that one day a cure will be found.

RIP Adam Cook. This is too bad, yet... that's an amazing amount of money to raise.
