For more publicity while Paula "negotiates" her contract, Shania Twain is now confirmed as being brought in to fill Ms. Rehabdul's shoes for a few dates. Rumors are also swirling that Joe Jonas and Kelly Clarkson will take a seat behind the judges' table during the auditions. The new slew of guest judges join Victoria Beckham and Mary J. Blige as people who will probably bring very little to the show by repeating producer-generated lines. Katy Perry is trying to work Idol into her schedule as well.
Ah, the life of American Idol winner Kris Allen. He seems like a nice enough guy, but currently he's making two big profile mistakes that could hurt him in the long run. First, TMZ reports that he's trying to sublet his apartment in Cabot, Arkansas since he's currently touring and will then be living in Hollywood. Apparently Kris forgets that the frauen have lots of extra money and lots of extra time to be creepy. It shouldn't be long before a creepy 400 pound woman rents the place and does unemtnionable things to all of his stuff while he's gone. Second, MJ's Big Blog has a photo of Kris in a recording studio with Chris Daughtry. Daughtry's new album shouldn't sell anywhere near what his last one did, so he's on a downward spiral. Don't get caught in that Kris. Kelly Clarkson almost made that mistake, but thankfully somehow got out of it. So what's the summary here? Kris, don't rent your apartment to a frau and don't record with Daughtry if you want any kind of career.
The movie that notified the American public that maybe the American Idol producers were morons is now being shown at an exclusive film festival. But From Justin To Kelly isn't being recognized for being any good. The movie is being screened at the So Bad They're Brilliant film series at the Egyptian Theatre on Wednesday, August 19. Go check it out as a double feature with Mariah Carey's crapsterpiece Glitter. If you can survive the night without slitting your wrists, you are officially a stronger person than most. And hey, at least it gets Justin Guarini back in the news for a split second.
It looks like Kelly speaking out about Ryan Tedder's duplicity got her into trouble with living dead Clive Davis and her record label, RCA. According to The Prophet blog, Kelly was warned prior to Already Gone being released that if she spoke up against the song and made it known that it was a knock-off of Beyonce's Halo, all promotion for the album would be pulled. Now that she has, it looks like there may be no more music videos, no more appearances, and no more money spent on promoting the album to try to spite her. Seriously? Is there any way for her to get out of this contract? This is just ridiculous after her former fight with Clive about "My December". This is what you all have to look forward to, future Idol winners.
Perpetual crap songwriter Ryan Tedder is firing back at Kelly Clarkson after she exposed the fact that he gave Beyonce and Kelly the same song, which turned into 2 ridiculously similar singles, "Halo" and "Already Gone". Kelly felt embarrassed about releasing a song that makes her look like she stole the music, understandably. Ryan told TMZ:
"Already Gone" is one of the best song I've written or produced since "Bleeding Love" and stands tall on it's own merits apart from "Halo".
They are two entirely different songs conceptually, melodically, & lyrically and I would never try to dupe an artist such as Kelly Clarkson or Beyoncé into recording over the same musical track, the idea is both hurtful & absurd.
He also said he wants people to listen and form their own opinions. Anyone with working eardrums can tell that it's the same song. You're not getting out of this one that easily, Ryan. Especially since you think "Bleeding Love" was a good song. Crazy!
Speaking of the post below, here is Kelly Clarkson's video for Halo by Beyonce.
If you haven't heard Kelly Clarkson's new single, Already Gone, you might think you already have when you do finally hear it. Turns out the guy that wrote it, perpetual crap songwriter Ryan Tedder, penned the song for Kelly and then wrote a similar song for Beyonce called Halo. When Kelly realized that Ryan had written a song with a very similar sound for Beyonce and it was released as a single, she fought to not have it released as her new single. Predictably, her record label didn't listen and it releasing it as the third single anyway. Kelly blames the record company, but let's place the blame on the correct party here: Ryan Tedder and his formulaic, predictable songwriting. People... stop hiring him. Above, you can hear what Already Gone would sound like when played over the background music to Halo. Basically, the same song.
Awesome. After the whole Already Gone/Halo situation, Kelly Clarkson decided to add a few bars of the Beyonce song to her performance last night to mock her own song. Pretty funny.
