How appropriate that Nathaniel would sing a song that most conservative churches used to believe was their theme song. If only the originator, Ray Boltz, would have stayed in the closet, they could still cling to that.

That song is about how God is the anchor in a Christian's life and no matter what comes at them, The Anchor Holds.

Now that Boltz is out of the closet, it appears that the Anchor can symbolize anything.

Apparently Idol is keeping the Jesus songs clipped down until Idol Gives Back week, since they cut that song before the next line, "and yet, His eyes are watching me."

This can be taken so many ways, e.g., "I don't believe there's much talent here" or "it's unbelievable that someone thinks these folks have talent."

Just sayin'.
