I know you like Tatiana, but I'm surprised you didn't make fun of her clearly fake accent. She was trying to imitate Jorge's success. And she claimed that she spoke with an accent when excited, but she's been plenty excited before and still spoke perfect English. Her fake accent isn't even that good.

Wow, I actually agree with most of what you say. Von especially let me down the most. I had very high hopes for him after his "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" audition, but he pulled a Sundance on me and completely crumbled in Hollywood with stupid fucking song choices.

The only things I don't really agree with you on are the fact that Tatiana Del Toro deserves to live and that Anoop didn't sing very well. I think Anoop has sung better than almost anyone so far every time I've heard him, and yes I know what Randy is referring to when his criticism states that Anoop was off pitch the whole time, but I think that is just how Anoop's voice is and the judges will realize that eventually. It is what makes his voices and performances unique, as well as superb.

I was cracking up throughout the entire Jasmine Murray paragraph because I never really thought of her that way, but it definitely seems believable when I invision her ant-like face in my head. I'm never gonna see her the same again.

Au contraire, Tatiana's "is it fake or is she really just excited?" over-the-top accent was only one more reason to love her.

Ok, I'm starting to agree with this site. When I first started my journey on being a faithful American Idol viewer, I thought they picked the BEST 12 SINGERS FROM USA. I was mistaken. I know one girl who tried out who barely got to sing two lines of the song, who is as good as Arianna, Jasmine, Taylor, and Megan. I now realize that they are trying to fit a mold of each different type of artist/style. They have the:

1. Big voiced black girl with her kids &; god knows whatever issues they have (Lil)

2. Cool, "Amy Winehouse", moderny, sexy (Megan)

3. American Dream single mom, good voice (Alexis)

4. The Little Engine that could, big voice, pretty girl, good voice to computer-ize (Jasmine)

5. Rockstyle, belting voice, a few hit songs about pain (Allison)

6. The soulful piano player (Matt G)

7. The sob story, with a "great" voice, blech. (Danny)

8. The country hick (Sarver)

9. The tween hearthrob (Kris)

10. The dorky gone cool (Anoop)

11. The diverse guy, with a "cool" spanish feel (Jorge)

12. The moving story, and great inspiration, blech. (Scott)

13. The amazing powerhouse of a voice, in all genres (Adam)

GOD I SEE RIGHT THROUGH THESE PRODUCERS NOW!

I'd say there are 5 with good voices,

3 actually worthy if every person got an equal oppurtunity, WITHOUT STORIES

And so many that are here for the wrong reasons.

I get this show now, it's just another reality show.

Truth46, you are being very ignorant. This is AMERICAN Idol, and roughly 69% of the people you just described WERE VOTED IN BY AMERICA! duh... the judges/producers whoever only placed 4 of the 13 finalists in their places. America chose 9 of those diverse people, so what are you talking about? If you're trying to hint that American Idol is scamming America by cheating with the votes, then your ignorance will have surpassed my expectations.

I'm not really expecting a reply from you Truth46, but if you decide to comment at all regarding what I just mentioned, I would only expect an admittance of your own stupidity, and a sentence acknowledging that I am entirely correct.

Truth46, glad you've seen the light brother (or sister as the case may be)!!!!!!

Believe me, the show is 10 times MORE entertaining when you realize its 100% a "reality" show, and 0% a legitimate talent competition.

Honestly - you could go to 12 RANDOM bars in NY, LA, Chicago, Nashville, etc. on a Tuesday night and find 12 better singers than ANY "top-12" YET for idols - and its Certainly true for this latest crop.

This show has NEVER been a real competition - which is why in 7 years so far, they've really only launched TWO* successful careers, and (unless you count a couple of the also-rans from season 5 who had fleeting/minor success), the LAST Idol contestant to really "make it" was from Season FOUR.

*(3 careers if you count Jennifer Hudson, but she's not a "Pop" singer, is she? And its not like 3 out of 7 winners and 84 finalists is much of a success rate. . . .)

Its all about casting a set of "stories" that will get people watching. Sad that they won't accept that putting some actual TALENT on the show would make it far more interesting!

FWIW - re. earlier posts - glad to hear some share my opinion of the tattoo chick. Must be blowing Simon (or already under contract with the producers or one of their pals), there's really no other way to explain her still being in the cast.

TFB:

Why are you saying that only 3 people have made it on idol. I can name at least a dozen who have gone on to have substantial careers, and at least 6 who are huge.

HUGE:

Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson (went on to win a Grammy), Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, Jordin Sparks, David Cook

Several other people have had hit songs and had decent careers as well:

Clay Aiken (#1 album sales with over 600,000 in his first week), Fantasia Barrino (hit songs, plus a movie), Kelly Pickler, Mario Vasquez (who ended up dropping out of the show to make his album, hit song: Gallery), Elliot Yamin (hit song: I'll Be Waiting), Katharine McPhee, Taylor Hicks, David Archuleta (hit song: Crush)

Even people who don't make it on idol can still make it just for being involved with the show. William Hung ended up getting a record deal. The guy that Simon referred to as a "bush baby" in season 6, he and his large friend were on just about every talk show in America.

Apart from major success of some of idol's more fortunate stars, others have gone on to do things in television. Justin Guerrini is a television host for a multitude of shows and events. Kimberly Caldwell is a television host as well and does a show with Justin Guerrini. Past idol participants are constantly being brought back for special appearances, like Michael Johns and Carly Smithson who performed on idol season 8 a few weeks ago.

I don't know why folks like to see the kind of drama that Tatiana created. It's damned annoying to me. Actually, it got to be painful to watch her. From the frantic begging to the crying to the rudeness to fellow contestants, she was the type of person I run from in real life. Her last little scene, with falling on the floor in front of the judges was just abominable. I have to say that we had decided if Tatiana got through to the top 12 (or 13), we would not be watching Idol this season. We are very relieved.
