>As far as AI "humiliating" people for entertainment, they only humiliate the rejects before Hollywood (who bring it upon themselves for sucking and then crying about it) and an additional small handful of people who end up completely blowing it in the live shows.

So by your own admission, the show panders to the lowest common denominator at the expense of maximizing the amount of real talent being evaluated. And that's your idea of providing a benefit to society? Get that weak stuff out of here. Face it, it's just a showcase for mostly bland, mediocre singers. Don't try attaching any profound social significance to it because it doesn't have any.

>it has already gone down in history as the television show with the highest ratings ever

Highly dubious. Not that ratings equate to redeeming qualities anyway. Some pretty awful shows have had sustained high ratings. My, you really enjoy your logical fallacies and propaganda tactics, don't you?

Moxie, Twonyx - I'm so auditioning for AI next year in my iron lung machine.

Oh and did I mention that 70% of my body is covered with third degree burns.

Unfortunately I'm fully sighted and don't have a dead spouse so you never know, it could be a close thing.

Well, you've got some time. You could always get married and pray to God to watch over you by taking your spouse away from you tragically. Being a single parent and poor are also good, so if you can work that in it would up your chances considerably. The possibilities are endless aren't they?? ;)

(By the way, I love your smooshed-face little kitty!)

Great job ! Why would anyone be surprised if the Disney version of Idol wasn't as pimped and staged as the real thing. Just more proof of how fucking stupid and gullible people are.

Whew Castro, I'm surprised he isn't hanging round the back trying to pick up 14 year olds. Kid is mega creepy.

Thank you for your review of this Disney attraction. I think that this will not last and it might have had more success if they did it earlier. In a few years when this show is no longer popular and America's moved onto the next crap show, Disney will use this theater to sell more of their merchandise.

So, I went to Disney, I auditioned, and I got in the first show.

I was also the second contestant with a little video profile about me. My first choice of song was snubbed by the producer and he made me sing my second song choice. I gave it my all but wasn't in the pimp spot.

Then, the strangest of things happened, I nailed my song and the girl in the pimp spot flubbed her lyrics (which were on the back screen)!

I actually won my round. In the finale, I went second again, which I knew meant I had no chance. However the girl that won went third and did a very good job and, unlike me, is within the age limit of being able to audition for Idol. The lady who was in the pimp spot was pretty bad. In fact the top two vote getters were the 3rd and 4th people out of the seven.

I agree with your friend Dave, everyone working at Disney was incredibly nice to me all day. Let me know if you want to see pictures.

I think that although it seems your experience was rigged, it may not always be. I personally auditioned for the show last year, I was 15 and I sang This is me from camp rock. I dont personally likethis song, but like what happened with your friend, the producers thought i should do it. In the preliminary show, I went first and got adam lambert(instead of david arcguleta) talking to me to wish me good luck. I thought while watching the show from backstage that it was rigged by watching the other contestans introductions, but I actually won despite what it had looked like. I didnt win the finals, and again, I went first, but I was in the top 4 in the finals and the person who was really the best in my opinion did win-without an introductory video. So while it may be rigged so who they want to win looks the best...things dont always work out the way they try to rig it.
