<p> Weenrocks -- You are absolutely right.  They RE-EDITED THE DAMN GROUP-SYNCH.  Unbelievable.  Anyone who's bored enough to re-watch it, 9 minutes into the show, during "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" they cut from the Idols with Christ-y arms stretched wide and holy lights in a triangle formation to Close-ups of various idols singing with microphones.  Holy crap, that is blatant.  I didn't see it before because after I saw there was no dancing, and therefore no Blind Scott dancing in this group-synch I fast-forwarded.  Musical Medleys are the lowest form of life.  How sad is it that they have fancy lighting, fancy editing, do multiple takes, lip-synch and they STILL suck huge donkey dicks?  And this excuse of "learning a new dance" is total crap.  How long does it take to learn "Stand in one place and sing along to the backing track?"  The choreography is total garbage.  These results shows blow. </p> <p> Monchichi-- Thanks for the kind words.  I think it's just because I'm awesome.  Kidding.  Actually when nothing much happens in an hour-long show it's easy to summarize.  The first 8 minutes is just crap, recaps and filler.  Why do they kill an hour to reveal 30 seconds of information?  I know, big money.  But what if people didn't watch...?  So people, STOP watching. </p> <p> Ikench -- I remember that Meatloaf-McPhee duet well.  I was worried that poor McPhee would be drowned by Meatloaf-sweat.  And he even botched the words of his own song.  New Conspiracy Theory: The Producers paid Meatloaf to take a dive, dragging McPhee down so Hicks could win.  You heard it here first! </p> <p> And if they steal my idea to do Idol Duets night I want to get paid.  I thought it up here last season.  Check the tape.   </p> <p> --Chan </p>

Chan....great synopsis, as usual! It's almost to the point where I don't even have to suffer through this ridiculous result show anymore. I can come here and read your summary. Far quicker, and certainly less painful. As far as the editing of the group song, I thought I was imagining things, or had 1 too many Budweisers. Thanks to you guys for clearing that up! Go Megan!!

Ah, a million votes for our songbird and she is safe. Analog, I agree yours is a safe estimate. And in this day and age, isn't it obvious that a million votes is worth two in the bush?

<p> Entertainment Weekly had a pretty good article on Grading the Idols Motown recordings.  The dude doesn't watch the show, so he's going purely on recording talent. </p> <p> http://music-mix.ew.com/2009/03/american-idols.html </p> <p> Here's my favorite quote:  4. <strong>Danny Gokey, "Get Ready"</strong><br /> He's going for that Michael Bolton thing, I guess? At 1:04 you can hear him spitting on the microphone. I don't recall that being one of Eddie Kendricks' tricks. <strong>C-</strong> </p> <p> Gokey spitting on the microphone gives me something new to look out for next week. </p> <p> --Chan </p>

Results show was shown here yesterday. The group number- When Allison, Lil and Megan were singing at the beggining it didn't even sound like them. I did notice that Matt was better at Lip synching than some of the other contestants. That chap from series 2-- HE WON?! I thought he was awful! Must have been a slow year. The Smokey and Joss Stone Duet was kinda rubbish in my opinion. I was wondering where Joss' voice went. Smokey was a bit leery =/ And the judges stood up? pah! You could tell Simon didn't want to but since the other three did he couldn't possibly be rude now could he? Stevie Wonder rescued the show. He was great! At this point, I have to admit I'd had a long day, the sofa was comfy and I fell asleep. But I gather I didn't miss much. I'm kinda annoyed about Sarver going home because his voters will probably shift to Hokey Gokey. damn and blast. I hope there's an error with Gokey's phone line next week and he has to leave.

Bah! I wrote about the Kris/Hal Sparks thing weeks ago. It's uncanny. As soon as I saw Kris singing "Man in the Mirror" I thought "what a loser" but he's actually ok and seems like a nice fellow. I just can't stand Michael Jackson, and the more recent the recording, the worse it is.

The lip-syncing is so obvious, it's hardly worth wondering about. And yeah, it's pretty obvious too that they're not performing in front of an audience -- try to find even a hint that there's anyone there. Which means they probably shoot multiple takes of these numbers-- and they STILL suck everytime. Boggles the mind. I do appreciate all efforts to keep Megan on screen. She's having a blast, you can see that she's there just for the laugh.

Timberfake in the bottom two was obviously planned. They want to keep him around, so they gently veer him towards the edge to get everyone's attention. That way, everyone will spam his line next week. But overall, Megan being completely safe and Sarver going home was practically divine. I also hate how Big Rounds is still on the show. Looking at her always makes me want to vomit, but hearing her sing just reminds me of how people like Felicia got their hopes stolen away. Speaking of which, I thought I saw Felicia in the audience this week. Correct me if I'm wrong.
