Great review, as usual, Professor!

Also have to agree wholeheartedly with Ash's comments. Just further confirmation that I-dull will always be a "reality show" and that actual "singing talent" (such as it is) has little to do with who they pick to win.

Yea, ironic that "Rock week" sends home the only contestant who MIGHT have a career as a "rock singer". (Agree totally about Madame Flamebert - she is destined for either Freddie Mercury/Meatloaf theatrics or straight (no pun intended) to Broadway or Vegas).

It was obvious that the two who "got it" were Madame and Allison. Kris and Dead-wife-Pimp clearly gave sub-"cruise ship" caliber, karaoke performances. But they have a marketing future for 19E - cranking out mindless "boy band" drivel for the tween-tard audience.

I also enjoyed No Doubt. No, it didn't sound like a studio performance - But it was also twice as interesting as Daughtrey's "slick" snooze-fest, and ten times more "real" than Pauler's lip sync dance number. I'd much rather hear a LIVE performance (even on TV), but maybe that's just me.

Congrats to Allison, though. I think this may be the best finish ever for the "rocker girl" character on I-dull (???), and the best finish for any "rocker" character since Daughtery played the role of "Rocker guy" in the cast of season 5.

No one's commented yet on the latest pimping of Danny's dead wife in the Ford commercial. When flattened-paper Danny (who still looked overweight) went to open the car door, there was the fake wedding ring on full display! Danny fantards will blame that on AI, not DWD, but he's the one who wore the ring to the shoot....

Some random thoughts of my own...

I'd never seen or heard Daughtry before last night, and yeah, he came across as a smug douchebag all full of himself and shit. His singing was mediocre at best, screamy and nerve-grating at worst.

I don't blame Paula for lip-syncing her song. I don't think even a person half her age could sing decently and dance like that at the same time. Not that her singing was decent (it sounded like shit, even prerecorded as it was) or that her dancing was anything spectacular. To me she looked incredibly awkward trying to dance in her high heels, like she was about to break an ankle at any moment. I kept thinking that Simon would say exactly that if he were judging her performance and wasn't in love with her. She looked so awkward that I actually felt sorry for her. I guess I sort of like Paula - she probably wasn't borderline retarded before all the years of prescription drug abuse, and she seems like a basically nice person - and I empathize with her not wanting to let age get the best of her. Still, she should dance barefooted if she must do it at all, and don't pretend to sing while dancing since no one can do that well anyway.

I'd also never seen or heard Gwen Stefani or No Doubt before last night. What a train wreck of a performance that was! At least Lady GagGag was entertainingly bad. No Doubt was just bad.

Alison was excitedly jumping up and down at the very end of the show...happy to be done with this joke of a show, perhaps?

And whose bright idea was it to send Kris and Adam to safety first, ensuring Danny would have one more chance to grope Allison before she went home? Glad that's over with.

Good luck to Allison - she didn't have the best voice but she showed quite a stage presence for a teenager. At least she won't be vocally overworked and run into the ground like Jordin was.

I missed this. Was PWE stomping his right leg up and down like he did all through AI5 to show us he was a rocker?

Then isn't it about time to remember that music performance is mainly about the music and get rid of the bullshit choreography already? MTV and videos destroyed rock and pop music by making dancing and wardrobe more important than musicianship.

If Stefani also forgot about that crap and didn't bother to go skipping around the stage last night, she wouldn't have been gasping for air.

allison will be successful - i liked the girl a lot!

glad our douche stayed but like, wtf? he sucks. Clearly this show does not base this on talent, maybe his talent is to jiggle his boobs on stage.

haha and for chris daughtry.. that video IS hilarious!!! and his performance reminded me once again why he didn't win. HE SUCKS and he screams... get over yourself.

I actually give props to david archie on being humble when he was on a few weeks ago and telling them you can still make it, yata yata yata.. but this douchebag was basically like "ok this show sucks and clearly i was better than everyone else and my shit doesn't stink. look where i am now, i'm God."

Can he be VFTW pick next week???? I hate him.

Not sure i agree completely. Making records - which is what AI is *supposed* to be about - yes, the music is everything. But when you're up on stage you DO have to perform and put on a show. Otherwise, if you're just standing in front of a mike singing, I'd just as soon stay home and listen to the CD instead of shelling out bucks for a concert. OTOH, if you can't sing &; perform at the same time and have to lip sync - well, then don't bother.

WTH was with No Doubt's drummer? Dressed up for Halloween or what?

Craptastic - agree with your last comment about Allison excitedly jumping up and down. I think everyone watching has known since the first week that Dead-Wife-Pimping Gokey was going to finish at or near the top, and we've all known that Adam would be there too - at least since the second or third week. If idiots like US can figure it out, I'm sure its been painfully obvious to the poor saps on the cast - living with it 24/7.

Sorta why I liked Jason Castro - he clearly knew what the deal was, and clearly got tired of playing along - eventually just throwing himself under the bus by intenionally blowing some easy lyrics.

I think Allison was a "good soldier" and did her best even this week, but just as clearly was glad the charade was now over for her. Monkey face will probably feel the same way next week when he "shockingly" gets "voted" off.

My dream is that ONE DAY, a contestant will actually SAY IT on live tv.

BTW - was it just my TV, or did anyone else hear a word get bleeped out when Allison was talking on the sofa about talking back to Simon?

Why would you choose Danny over Cris for the worster? Don't you realize that the producers want Danny to win? So by voting for Danny you are actually helping Idol succeed.

"I honestly believe my main problem with allison is the sense of "entitlement" I got from her. We usually start seeing this sorta attitude emerge in hollywood week. The "fuck the job..I'm on AI and I am going to be rich"

Huh? I never got that vibe from Allison. Far from it.
