Some thoughts... Fun fact: In season 5, TPTB were going to force both Kat Pee and Taylor to sing "My Destiny." In a smart decision, Taylor absolutely refused to sing that shitfest, and so the slightly less crappy "Do I Make You Proud" was given to him. Now, why didn't at least one of the two stand up to TPTB and refuse to sing that absolute dog of a song? It boggles the mind that neither of them would gather what little artistic integrity they have left and decide not to sing about rainbows, butterflies, and the weather. Another fun fact: In season 7, Blake wanted to attempt to rearrange "This Is My Now", although there was not much that could be done with the song, but the producers said no to even changing the key so he could sing it. He gave up in the middle and started saying the lyrics instead of singing them, and Jordin bleated her way through the song and sounded equally horrible and pitchy. Hmmm... I'm seeing some parallels. Both "This Is My Now" and "No Creativity" had awful lyrics, both did not suit either contestant, and both sets of finalists were screwed over by TPTB's irrational rule against rearranging the final song. The band rearranges it in the studio anyway, so why not cut out the middleman? The careers of the winners will continue to become laughingstocks for a long while yet unless TPTB realize that the cheesy coronation songs hurt them instead of help them. Kara especially was underutilized. Sure, she quickly threw together a crap song when she heard Danny would be in the final 3, but she would have been much better used as the finalists' last mentor, helping them write their own winners' single. I think Kris and Adam would have a better idea of what they want to sing than Kara.
