Overall a great show, I thought. Especially compared to past finales. I just wish they had shown Megan Joy more... especially singing off a tele-prompter and doing here quirky dance moves. I would have been happy with 2 hrs of that... and a 2 second winner announcement.

Don't let them change you, Megan Joy!

Doesn't Adam get stuck with an AI contract anyway? I read on this website that after the first couple of seasons AI put a clause in the contestants' contracts that they got first dibbs on contracts with the top 5 or 10 - this because some of the runners up did better than the winners. So the only benefit to Adam from being #2 is not having to sing "No Boundaries" after the group tour.

Tatiana's silly gigglefest was scripted...

Lionel Ritchie's face was so botoxed that only his mouth moved...

Rod Stewart looked like a malnourished, drunk old man who belonged in an ER hooked up to a banana bag...

Chan did a great job covering the highlights so I just want to throw in a couple of random thoughts:

1. If The Simpsons were ever going to lampoon Kiss, they don't need to bother. They couldn't possibly lampoon them any better than Kiss lampooned themselves. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Oh look, Gene's sticking his tongue out! Awesome! Back to 1977 with you.

2. Kiss, Queen, Rod Stewart's corpse, Lionel Ritchie, Steve Martin, Santana, Cyndi Lauper... yup, doesn't get any more contemporary and relevant than that!

3. Cyndi Lauper was AWFUL!!! Allison couldn't carry that song either and she was out of sync all night, but Cyndi Lauper was just plain TERRIBLE! I wanted to puncture my ears with knitting needles.

4. Sarver and Meghan were almost as funny as Kiss in the beginning, but it got old real quick.

5. When did Lady GaGa start choreographing the Black Eyed Peas?

6. Fergie was awesome last year with the one-handed cartwheel, but a complete fast-forward last night.

7. David Cook once again making the "When's my contract expire again?" face.

8. I'm no country music fan, but the Keith Urban / Kris Allen duet was very good. Probably because it wasn't really country. But Kris did a great job. I think he'll have a few modest hits in the Jason Mraz genre and will certainly be more relevant than Taylor Hicks. After his Idol contract expires.

9. About Kara in her skivvies, I'll quote Tommy Lee Jones in "Men In Black": That's one of a thousand memories that I don't want.

Ahhhhh a great review again Professor. I will miss these in the months to come.

Black Eyed Peas cut to logo was a censor, not a tecnical glitch. I read that in several places today.

Blind Scott was supposed to duet with Billy Joel, but Joel backed out at the last minute. Here's the link to his twitter about it: http://twitter.com/IdolScott/status/1868317940

It was obvious to me they got Queen Latifah for a duet because she's about the only black female singer in the world who could make Lil sound like she could actually carry a tune. Even then Lil was barely listenable.

I agree far too much roughneck but I delighted in him and DWD asking us if we thought they were sexy ha ha.

See you in January.

Oh I forgot to say I was watching a morning news show on some channel this morning and the anchor says something about an American Idol upset and "the long time frontrunner Adam Lambert was beaten out by um um hmmm" and his co-anchor goes "Kris Allen" helping him out. So then he goes "Oh right Kris Allen, how could I have forgotten him so soon." VFTW all the way! Wish I taped it.

Really? Did TPTB really think that would work given the Face2Face concert schedule? Billy Joel was in Indianapolis on Tuesday night (was an AWESOME show btw) and in Michigan on Thursday night. I realize that technically it was possible, but given the 3-hour concerts in the Midwest sandwiching Idol, it doesn't seem practicable.

"--Cook sings a miserable Daughtry-esque song in a sickly green light. The first lyrics I hear are "I broke my promise that you'll never see me cry. Goddamn pussy Idol songs. Fast Forward. Boop-oop, Boop-oop. "

Meh, give him some slack. That song was about his brother who died. If it was about a girl or something stupid, I'd agree with you, but I find that song so sad.
