Totally agree on Siobhan. She was the best performance of the night and the dutchess ripped her because why? She's a threat to his little pet Blowersucks. Could not disagree more on Lily Munster. She was totally off key (couldn't believe Randy didn't use his old standby "pitchy") and not only raped this song, she kidnapped it, took it to a cabin in the woods where she proceeded to torture it and rape it for days on end, before finally killing it after which she raped it's dead body before finally dismembering it into little pieces.

Sounds like the perfect movie for Lilly...a good old Horror Movie. You've perfected it Vikes! I can see her playing a sinister character, taking a man and doing that. But eating the remains and spewing the contents as she laughs manically. If she ever becomes the VFTW pick down the road, please keep this in mind when doing her picture.

Great review as usual, Professor. Have to agree with Japan - put a twinkie next to a pile of dung and even the twinkie looks (sounds) good in comparision. Also agree with South and others - this show has totally "jumpes the Shark" and the only reason it has any pulse left at all is because Simon is still there- and guess what? That too will end this year. I give iDull one, maybe two more seasons TOPS. This has got to be about the worst/weakest/least interesting set of "singers" and future "stars" they've ever assembled. ESPECIALLY Considering they've already as much as announced the winner this year MUST be a girl, you'd think they'd have bothered to actually cast a few pretty good singers among the girls. Oh well. As for the "real" producers favorite, I'm thinking it has to be either Didi, or possibly Kaetlyn or maybe even Sheboygan. They are about the only one's left that "look" like marketable pop stars and can actually sing a little. All the love for Bowersox, IMO, is 100% a red herring to make it "thrilling" and "Surprising" when the Real producers' pick starts to take over - about 4-5 weeks from now. Bowersox may be the best entertainer and performer among the girls in the cast, but I just don't see them seriously marketing a "dirty hippie" type as the IDull winner. A "rocker" girl maybe, but that's not exactly how they have cast Bowersox.

It's only due to VFTW that I even decided to watch Idol again, but sadly, I'm beginning to regret it. Simon needed to tell at least six people that they sucked.....something. Can't the producers just say, "No f'ing way, for the sake of humanity we are not going to let you sing "Smile" or "I Fall to Pieces".

Quote "gonesouth28": I think it's irrevocably broken. I give it the benefit of the doubt every Tuesday and Wednesday but always end up bored. I think the problem is that the only ones that are consistently good, Crystal and Lily, are too weird for any large fan base to relate to. I love Siobhan though, Simon doesn't understand her at all and you can tell it annoys him. I miss Haeley on the show, even though she didn't always sing well; at least she was likable. You have hit the proverbial nail on the head. NONE of them are likable. It's painful watching them. I can't figure out why I keep watching, other than the train wreck analogy. I couldn't even bring myself to vote until VFTW chose Paige and I decided to get on board. I hope we have saved her!

Remember a few weeks ago when the judges were talking about what a talented group of singers they had this year and how tough the competition was going to be? Notice they're not saying that any more. They are so bad it's painful to listen to. I do like Crystal, though, and even though she appears to be kind of strange, Taylor Hicks was weird and he won. Plus they have several weeks to clean Crystal up and make her look more mainstream.

Carrie Underwood was the front-runner going into her season. And Simon declared her the greatest thing since sliced bread a couple weeks into the Finals. I vaguely remember that Fantasia was a front-runner fairly early. But it doesn't normally happen that the front-runner wins, because this show used to be more entertaining. --Chan

I don't know what you're talking about in your Lacey comments...the judges didn't hate it or rip her apart at all. It was like 95% compliments that they gave her.

I forgive Professor Chan a little for being so bored that he tunes out from time to time but, like our dearly beloved Simon who occasionally looks up from his script, we have to love him for when he is spot on. In the case of the judges' comments for Lacey, I think he was so shocked she didn't totally suck, that he missed what they were saying entirely. But it is a sad commentary on the talent level that "You sucked less this week" is a compliment!

Ruben was also an early frontrunner, who went all the way. Carrie was pimped from day 1. Fantasia was pimped from day 1. Jorbacca was also an early frontrunner. I didn't watch enough of season one to tell, but I think Tamyra Gray was the early frontrunner there. So, the early frontrunner won in four of the eight seasons.
