Final 2 Recap: I Love This Season This Big

Jordan Dorsey said it best, folks. The finale of Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina could be summed up in 3 words: "No, just no." First, a bad country karaoke singer got up on stage and did some boring song. Then a bad country karaoke singer got up on stage and did some boring song. Then for a little variety, a bad country karaoke singer got up on stage and did a boring song. The passable moments included Lauren Alaina singing to her freakish mother and Scotty singing a song called "Love You This Big" that basically makes it sound like he has an erection. It was funny how neither singer really looked like they were trying at all. And why should they? They didn't have to improve all season because all they got was positive feedback. So why put in effort for the finale? I also enjoyed Taio Cruz coming out and singing in autotune, his microphone going out, and then when it came back the autotune wasn't working correctly and his hideous vocals were completely exposed.

Really, I can't write any more than that because there's nothing to work with when you have these two. But I will say that this was the best season of American Idol ever. Between Paul's rose suits, Haley and Casey growling. Naima's boom fire, Rachel's cape, Brett's apples, Jacob looking in the mirror, and so much more, it's been one hell of an entertaining ride. And now with the finale coming down to 2 awful country singers who have no shots at careers, I have to officially declare American Idol 10 a VFTW Victory! Thanks for reading my blog this year and thanks for everything. Watching this shit with all of the Worsters has made this season one awesome riot.

amen (no scotty pun intended)

best season for VFTW; worst finale of non-talent, borefest EVER

fitting how the last season of AI (since it sucked so bad) was the best for us.

If I have to see JLO's stupid face next year...I may have to just skip completely and go straight to your voting recommendation

I was with you with the whole best season ever until this episode.

Lauren and Scotty are both terrible, quite possibly "the worst."

But the two of them lack a certain purity of intention that ruins the fun of voting for the worst.

If we don't see her on the show, we will certainly see her on the floor! Schlemiel, schlimazel, London to Ibiza. Paris hasenpfeffer incorporated!

Why do modern dance pop songs have the same lyrical metre as old TV theme songs?

Lauren and Scotty always seem to be singing to their demographic, I didn't notice any performance where they took a leap of faith for the joy of performing a song they like like Paul, Casey, Haley, or James did. They always seem to be coming from the place of "how can I convince these hayseeds to vote for me?" and not, "How can I make this experience fun for me?"

One of the earliest eliminations, Karen Rodriguez seems to be cut from the same cloth. Let's sing a pop ballad, sprinkle a little Spanish in there to remind my people that I am still Jenny from the block. Scotty couldn't even relax during the Lady Gaga segment two weeks back out of a fear that he might be perceived as effeminate. Lauren couldn't say "evil." What kind of sheltered dolts are these kids?

Shouldn't this have been written in the "sarcasm" font?

Maybe. Or maybe they just finished their so call great careers.

I don't know. I think they're good enough for country music.

Several of the top ten can probably find work, but great career?
