I love how this site has been invaded by Word Nerds (aka Cookies).

azurebird,

I totally forgot about the medley group performances, and I agree. Horrible, horrible!

Another good point: more free choices, less themes! You're right--if they must have themes, make them good! How about "Power ballads." Or "Southern rock." Or even "Top 40," "Emo," "Punk," "New Wave," and "R&;B." Instead of just looking to one artist to provide the musical fodder, I want to see some genres.

One thing I find interesting is from what I can tell, nobody brought up when they had the other clips from Idol Gives Back on Thursday that they called Dylan and Cole Sprouse the names of their characters on Disney--Zack and Cody >___> Yeah...not only did it say it in front of them as they spoke, but so did Ryan incredibly unenthusiastically. Got to wonder how many times they can really screw up...

I agree with this. I'd like to see a little more creativity with the genres. It seems they always pick the same genres every year. They have Country, 60's, Motown, Musicals, etc. It's pretty boring after a few years. It's gotten to the point that most of my friends dread certain theme nights, especially when they clearly favor one contestant over another. Country night in particular. The "Country girl" or "Country guy" will have a good performance, but just about everyone else will stink because they aren't Country singers and aren't familiar with the genre (or you can tell they straight up don't like Country).

I've never understood certain theme nights because they contradict the very things the judges always harp on about trying to be relevant and finding a new star. Well, then why have them sing 40 year old songs or songs from a genre that nobody gives a shit about anymore?

Sorry to get off on a little bit of a rant. :)

You pretty much nailed what is absurd about Idol.  VFTW has been railing against this stuff for years.  However, I love theme nights because you're guaranteed some crappy performances.  And I want them to go back to before Daughtry showed them all how to re-purpose songs.  I want them to do COUNTRY songs, not rock versions of country songs.  If they're going to set these people up to suck, I want to see them suck.

AI is like ECW, it is rigged, but the true fans do not care.

AI is like ECW

That's what AI needs to be fresher next year, buckets of blood streaming all over the stage.

Maybe we can have Tommy Dreamer, Beulah and Raven as the new judges; Sandman as the emceee. If next year's Brooke flubs a line and starts over, someone can run out of the audience and hit her over the head with a frying pan.

Who was it that said that Jason is like Vinnie Barbarino? Whoever it was is brilliant. That totally fits him. I am charging up my landline and my cell phone. Going to vote the whole entire 2 hours. I live on the East coast and I don't have a modem on my desktop puter and my laptop is old and can't hold the dial idol program so is there any other way I can call in? Skype doesn't work for the idol numbers for some reason.

BAH! That would rock. If you have Sandman as the emcee - just have him cane the person that gets voted off. I can see it now, Sandman standing with a note in one hand and the cane in the other - "Brooke, American has voted ........**WACK**". Hmmmm, you would need to have Joey Styles around to say "OH MY GOD" after a sucky performance though.....

Forgot about Joey Styles. He would probably blow out his vocal chords by the end of the first hour of the Top 24.

And since voting totals should be verified, they would use corrupt referee Bill Alfonso.
