I bet lots of you love your pets as much as I do. So post it here. pictures and everything. My little ''Shorty'' is a mixed breed rescue dog, that I adopted two years ago. turned out to be the love of my life. Any where I am, he will be there too. he was already socialized when I got him.and in his foster home, he even lived with cats. he may have taken a step back since he's been with me on that one though! he seems to get a big kick out of the chase.

This is Pixie:

And this is Hobbit:

We do Agility, an obstacle course for dogs. Hobbit has three titles: NA, NAJ, and OAJ, while Pixie has four: NA, NAJ, OA, and OAJ. She competes in the Excellent classes, trying to earn her advanced titles. Hobbit's not quite there yet.

I also have two borzoi (they're just couch dogs) and a beautiful cat, Tonic:

My owner, Peaches.

Funny story, back when the jackass I'm saving up to leave and I were still in love, I saw an ad in the newspaper that these people had found a stray kitten, and their cat/owner wouldn't let them keep it.

So I asked Musa if he cared if we got a cat. He said he didn't care, even though he was born and lived in West Africa, where they are very superstitious and some people actually think cats are witches, and he personally had never had a cat.

Okay, you see how sweet and innocent she looks now, right? So, picture her at about 4 months old.

I brought her home in a box, set the box down on the couch, and opened it. She was just lying in the box on her back, furry white tummy exposed, little white paws turned under.....

He; *Standing behind me, peering over my shoulder* "Does it bite?"

Me; "NO she doesn't bite! Isn't she the cutest thing?"

He; "You touch it first and make sure"

Laugh See, I should have know right then and there that the culture clash was gonna be too much to deal with.

Peaches is his baby now, and she madly loves his friend Harris and Musa's step-mom (so do I) But he has this freind named Abe who comes over occasionally and is terrified of her....he SWEARS she turns into a witch while we sleep.

She seems to KNOW he's scared of her, so she harasses the HEL out of him! Once Musa wanted to teach Abe to do something on the computer, so he pulled a chair up next to the computer chair. He got up to do something, and peaches hopped onto the chair and just sat there and stared at Abe...stretching her neck closer and closer until he finally bolted. Another time she snuck up behind him, walking along the back of the couch, and sat down right behind his head. She just stared down at his head like a vuture for a while, but then, when he didn't notice her, she reached out with her paw and touched his head.

Laugh THAT one drove him totally, screaming, out of the apartment! Laugh

BTW, I'm not COMPLETELY evil. If Abe wasn't a TOTAL male chauvanist dickwad, I'd lock her in the bedroom when he comes over. But, as it is, it's too much fun to watch her mess with him Laugh

KEhlyr, your cat and mine are almost the same color! Does that color have an official name? When people ask me about my cat I always say, "Uh...he's kinda like a Siamese, but tabby where a Siamese has dark brown." There's gotta be a name for that!

All those pets are adorable! I just love animals so much! I mean I really really really love them! I'm pretty even tempered, don't usually get too mad at people.but there have been some noteable exceptions! Enough so , to make people who know me best, gasp in unbelief. It always involved me reacting to something concerning my precious dogs. Damn it ............. You just don't mess with my dogs!! .......Im just sayin........

Adorable animals, guys! You take very nice photos.

Here's my dog Kramer (Maltese/Poodle mix) last year in front of my flower garden (sorry for the blurriness, but it was really humid that day and the camera fogged up):

Here are my two cats, George (Maine Coon mix) and Tootsie (Bermese mix):

Toots was my brother's cat. When he moved, I got her.

George is 10, Kramer is 9 and Toots is 8.

Great pets everyone, I shall live vicariously through you as I don't have any pets right now. I did grow up with the most awesome dog patches who lived to be almost 17 years old. Unfortunatly I don't have any photos of him on the computer because he died before I got a digital camera.

Q~ is Hobbit a Corgi?? I love corgi's.

My parents have two cats -- Kitty is on the left and Big Fuzzy is on the right. They're old retired cats Laugh Kitty is ... about 13 years old I think, and Big Fuzzy is 11. Kitty was abandoned by her old owners when they moved Paula and ended up at the local police station, we got her when she was 6 months old. And we've had Big Fuzzy ever since she was a little kitten. Her name is Big Fuzzy because she's HUGE and has fuzzy fur. She's terrified of everything. I can't have pets in my apartment complex but it would be nice to come back to a cat or a bunny or something. I like dogs too but not on the 3rd floor of my building.

She was a cockapoo and a real dardevil. my husband had her on the roof with him!, (yeah,I know, don't ask!) when I saw her, I climbed up the ladder, reached out to her and she came flying over my head. yep she jumped! I screamed; my husband turned pale,I thought she was a goner. I looked down, and she was standing there looking up at me with a big ole grin and wagging her tail! She really beat all!

Yes, Hobbit is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. They are wonderful, wonderful dogs. I always recommend them for families (or anyone!), because they're small but tough, very smart, very trainable. My Italian Greyhound, Pixie, is a better Agility dog, but Hobbit is definitely the best "around the house" dog ever.

A few good pics at this site:

And one more, just 'cause she's cute and you can see her fluffy butt in this one:

NOLAgirl, Bella is TOO darling, especially in her closeup and in the Mardi Gras pic!

It's kind of a milky white with brown and black. He had a cyst removed from his back several years ago and it grew in jet black-he had no other black before. He's supposedly himalayan with siamese, but I swear a tabby must've done gramma! Q, if your's has a similar tabby look I wonder if that tabby done yours too!

Here is my computer pet,,, I have him on my desktop to keep away unwanted programs (lol) This is the only animal in the world that will do what I say (hide, go away, delete etc... )

And this critter is Oscar. He has me in training right now, to make sure I do what he wants. Oscar lets me know when I am messing up, and bites me on the toes or shin if I get too close to him while he is resting on the couch.

He was a lost dog, and the people that found him, tried to find the owners for a month, and couldnt keep him, so he was going to be "put down" when we said we would take him for a day or so to see if we liked him. Oscar (we didnt know what his name was, but he sure took up with that name quick) has wound up being my best buddy. If I put my hat, shoes and sunglasses on, he knows we are going out to the boat. I open the back door, and he will run down and get on the boat. If I dont take him, he sits at the back door and will raise holy hell until I get back. and then nips at my toes and shins.. LOL,,

He really is a great dog. Vet says he is a Lhasa APso but others say he is a shitzu, from the size of his head, and fluffy tail. I dont care what he is, he is MY dog.. LOL (or maybe I am his)

I love pics of people's pet's-they all have so much character. And I agree with West Texas-don't mess with animals, they depend on us and it breaks my heart to see abuse. I can't watch the Animal Planet shows that have animal controls cracking down on abusers, I start crying (well, that could be partly the premenopausal shit). I volunteer alot, but can not do animal shelters because then I'd be in the news as one of those crazy ladies with animals overrunning the house!

Unfortunately, we just lost our sweet kitty, Oscar. He had just turned three years old. Please don't read further i you get upset easily. I'm so devastated right now, but I'm obviously among pet lovers, so hopefully you'll all understand.

We got him from the humane society. My daughter was 2, and she and I went there to look at the cats. We saw this sweet, little kitty (the runt) who was getting peed on by all his kennel mates. He was six weeks old.

We fell in love, and took him home. He grew into a very big boy, weighing 18 lbs...but he wasn't fat, just big. People would come into our house and ask, "what the hell is that? A bear?" Laugh

Anyway, this past Thursday, my DD Sydney (now five) and I had a wonderful day. We spent the entire day at my boss's cottage, boating, swimming and just having fun.

When we got back, my DH Randy told me that our cat, Oscar, had gotten out of the house. He's a house cat, but every few days, he's too quick for us at the door and he gets out. And, normally when he does that, he sticks around our yard, never venturing too far.

Anyway, when Sydney and I got home at 10:30 pm, Oscar had already been out for about 3 hours. I put Sydney to bed, and went looking for him. He was nowhere to be found in the yard. I was worried about him, and didn't sleep very well, so at about 2:30 am, I went looking again. Couldn't find him anywhere.

So, on Friday, around 8:00 am, I opened the front door, expecting to see him, scared out of his tree, whining to get in. He wasn't at the door. I called my husband at work, to check if he had brought Oscar in...He hadn't, and my heart sank. I just knew something was wrong...I checked around the yard again, but found nothing.

So, I took Sydney to swimming lessons and then dropped her off at her friend's house for a play date. I got home around 10:00 am...I was sitting on the front steps, trying to figure out where he could have got to.

Something told me to look under our bushes (Oscar liked to lay there when we were all outside), and I found him. He was not okay. He did look like he was sleeping, but I knew he was gone. I screamed and bawled like a baby and ran into the house, called Randy at work and told him. He said he would take care of Oscar when he got home, but I couldn't leave poor Oscar out there. So, I got a fluffy towel, wrapped him up, and took him to our vet. The vet did a quick examination of his body, and, by looking at his paws and claws, that he'd been hit by a car. (His little claws were all torn up--apparently this is common with car/animal accidents because their instinct is to dig in so they don't go flying...poor lil guy). The vet was so wonderful. She hugged me, gave me kleenex, and told me that many cats get hit by cars, but don't go home. They have so much adreniline running through them from the injuries, and they run off somewhere far away to die. She said Oscar obviously loved us, and made sure he came to where he was loved to die. If you looked at him, you wouldn't have known he'd been hurt.

After I calmed down a bit, the vet told me she would get him "ready" if I wanted to bring Sydney in to say goodbye. I called Randy from the vet's office and we discussed what would be best--Sydney seeing him, or not. We decided to leave it up to her.

I went back to the room Oscar was in and spent the next few minutes holding him and then went back home. I cried and cried and cried, called Randy again, and called our friend Todd who immediately left work and went to take Randy to lunch--Randy was pretty shaken up too, and so was Todd, so they had a real "macho" lunch getting messed up over our cat! Then, I pulled it together and went to pick up Sydney. I brought her home, and explained what had happened. She wanted to see him and say goodbye, so we went back to the vet's office and she was able to hug him and kiss him and lie her head on his belly. We both cried a lot and told Oscar how much he meant to us, how he was such a good boy and how we were going to miss his constant purring.

As we were about to leave, Sydney went up to Oscar and told him how she gave him all the love he gave her plus more (and then Mommy lost it some more.)

My heart is broken. I cannot believe I lost my baby. Here's a picture of him and Sydney...He was a fantastic cat:

Ah, so sorry to hear about Oscar! It's sad when our pets leave us...it's hard to believe that a "mere" animal can possess our hearts like they do!

Here's one more "pet" of mine that I wouldn't want to forget. This is a shot of a portion of our 75 gallon freshwater planted aquarium. Lovely to watch at night.
