Oh, hamburgers! Location: Hag Supastar!

I recently watched The Fourth Kind. It terrified me.

I want to see Devil Inside. Maybe this weekend in between wine binges. Or I can go drunk! That will be fun.

Nikki, I hope you sneak a flask in. You'll need it to get through The Devil Inside. Some good scares but pretty lacking in the plot/acting/direction/keep the camera pointed at the action elements.

^^ I had not heard of 'The Devil Inside' until EW reported that it earned an

'F' in audience polls.

Now I am watching 'Dream of Life', a documentary about Patti Smith. I wish I had her balls, willing to live a life devoted to family and art.

And then I have "Everything Must Go'.

And Season 2 of 'Downton Abbey' at 9.

Fueled by the last of my week's pot roast rice bowl and Sweetwater beer.

Boo-yah!

To my fellow film writers,

Yes, I know that Gina Carano is hot as all get out. And yes, she looked good beating the crap out of a bunch of well-known actors for 90 minutes. That does not mean you praise that piece of shit Haywire film as anything more than what it is: a mindless action film dumped in January where expectations are low and bad box office can be blamed on the weather. 8 minutes of action does not make up for 82 minutes of nothing happening onscreen.Antoiletta

Hi Otherrobert. I haven't got hold of Rango yet but I saw The Muppet Movie last week. If nothing else it was fun playing "spot the cameo".

This was the same review one of my buddy's husband gave when he returned from the movies, where he had taken refuge during last night's girls night. Thanks for the validation. I will wait for Red Box.

On the other hand, I saw Red Tails this weekend. It was the first movie I have gone to see in the theatre since last fall. Go see it. It was good and Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Terrance Howard did not suck.

What I could have missed was the preview for Phantom Menace in 3D. No one needs any more Jar Jar Binks.

The Devil Inside lady reminds me of some of the women you see closing the bar. I looked like the Devil Inside lady last night.

Alien movies are friggin freaky,

Roger Ebert watched 30 minutes of a movie right after seeing The Grey and then walked out. He said it wouldn't have been fair to the second film.

I feel the same.

ps. There's a short after credits scene.

Is anyone in a region, or overseas zone where they've seen Madonna's WE yet? I'm curious; I think some Euro - critics liked it, while the U.S. one's didn't.

Any dance fans around here? If Pina 3D (and you have to see it in 3D for the full effect of the choreography) plays at a theater near you, go see it. It's fantastic. After Pina Bausch's unexpected death in 2009, her dance troupe convinced a documentarian who abandoned a biographical film of Pina to film them recreating her 40 years of iconic modern/ballet choreography.

The dancers are clearly doing it out of love and blow away any preconceived notions you might have about modern art. Pina made these dancers the people--not dancers, people--they are today by personally grooming them to handle anything in the entertainment industry. Come for the dancing, stay for the heartfelt testament to the power of a caring and intelligent director.

^Ooh, after being a dancer for 15 years, I'd LOVE to see that. I doubt it will come anywhere near NW Arkansas though. :(

Jenmac, that makes me sad. This is easily the kind of film that a distributor could market as a big nationwide event and open wide. It's a low budget film, it's done very well internationally, and with marketing--like, you know, airing the trailer on TV--people would see it.

I understand. It would probably be huge here. That show "Dance Moms" has NOTHING on the dance moms in this area! They'd sell out every showing if they brought it here.

Great show! Season finale is tonight and someone will probably die a horrible death! I got a feeling of who it might be....

Chronicle is Carrie with straight dudes and digital camcorders. Do I have to point out that means it goes completely over the top in the final action sequence so people walk out talking about the blood and explosions and not the seventy minutes of tightly controlled character development?

Last weekend was "Woman in Black". Excellent suspense thriller. Lots of good gotcha's to the point that my wife was hiding her head under her wrap peeking out several times. Daniel Radcliffe performs very well.

This weekend was "Chronicle" and otherrrobert is right about the "Carrie" connection. It was an interesting premise and well written. Seemed like real high school versus how Hollywood thinks high school is. Predictable in places but hey, it was fun.

Watched The Artist recently. I thought it was good, a homage of sorts. If I'm completely honest, was expecting a lot more on the lighter side. A bit more on the comedic front would have only made the film more imaginative.

The last days of Edgar Allan Poe's life? Lol. I can't say I like crime fiction very much (exceptions Allan Poe & Conan Doyle, they're just fantastic), but I might check this one out.

I've just realized that The Snowtown Murders is released in the US in a few days. I'd be interested in any opinions of how it plays when you don't have the benefit of background knowledge of the events themselves.

That all took place in the disadvantaged suburbs about an hour north of where I live. I used to work there with that exact demographic in rehab and job search counseling. Soul destroying.
