^ second that.

and sorry to have brought the thread back to the front page for the book review. I was just so pissed that the book sucked like an airplane with a window out at 20,000 feet. May St. Anotinella forgive me.

Look, I'm gonna write about Taylor news on this Taylor thread unless a mod tells me otherwise. The fact that some Taytards want this thread buried (Leave Taylor alone!!!1!!) just makes me want to increase my 2 posts per month average.

And he did "benefit" from an organized buying campaign, but so did many Idol finishers. It's hardly unique to his fanbase--the Daughtry crew, the Kat crew, the Bo crew...they all do it.

nmcot, I wasn't talking about the first few weeks after the CD dropped, I was talking about last week.

Sales have been stuck at 697,000 for a long time and the Soul Patrol has been dying to get it over the hump to 700k. They also noticed that Pickler's sales have picked up considerably and was once again threatening to overtake Taylor. So with Black Friday coming up a call to action was made on all the Taylor boards and blogs.

Every able-bodied Soul Patroller was encouraged to buy extra copies of the CD. You already have more copies than you know what to do with? No problem, send them to the troops! "Show your love and thanks to the troops and give them something that will lift their spirits and give them musical enjoyment during their off time."

A mass buying campaign was scheduled on Black Friday. You were supposed to buy on Amazon so the volume of orders can be tracked by looking at the sales rank. The plan actually worked beautifully. On that day the sales rank rose from around the 9000s all the way to the low 100's. Taylor Hicks was #1 on the Movers and Shakers with a 1000% increase. There was much rejoicing in Tayland! Soul Patrollers who were on the fence about the buying campaign were encouraged by these Amazon rankings and bought another copy or two. Everyone couldn't wait for next Wed when Ken Barnes reports the Idol sales figures.

You already know what happened. Practically every Idol with a CD out had a sales bump that week. The same is true for non-Idol artists. One of the rare exceptions? Taylor. He sold 200, same as the week before. It would have dropped if not the the Soul Patrol's Black Friday campaign. Even fucking Constantine had a sales increase from 200 to 300.

Now wasn't that a great Thanksgiving story?

Without being bitchslapped for presenting the opposing viewpont...

Yea, NMCOT and I were responding yesterday to tards who are intent on posting their passive aggressive shit based on the hours they must spend googling Taylor in order to find whatever negative shit they can find.

FAG coming out and calling us idiots and Taylor a fat fug? Fine. It's supposed to be the love Taylor or hate Taylor thread. But for yesterday, the passive agressive neiner-neiner stuff from newbies who are only here to present the gospel according to PWE got on my nerves.

Insane made excellent points. While I've been busy and haven't had time to get involved in the CI and NGAB stuff, I'm looking forward to AI7, and getting back to business and crushing people's dreams and making Jeanne Smith's daughter's cry.

Gotcha. I actually didn't realize there was STILL an organized buying campaign. That's just kind of sad. Well, that's very sad, actually. Too bad for Taylor, who I'm sure probably wants to put that CD behind him just as much as anyone.

As for passive-aggressive Googling...well, I eat up negative news about Tits McPhee and the stupid shit that used to come out of her mouth daily, so I don't exactly have a platform to stand on to critique yesiyam's passive-aggressive Googling. So...passive-aggressively Google away!

Those poor troops!!! Laugh They must use the Taylor CD as target practice for their machine guns.

From what I've heard, they round up sales too, so he sold under 150 as opposed to 200. Or one week he sold less than 50 and they reported it as 100. So in actuality, he's doing worse than reported.

Where did his vast Soul Patrol fanbase go?

Taylor's CD stopped being relevant 11 months ago.

His CD is not relevant, but his sales are, with respect to the success or failure of the wookie and skunk hobbit.

Every psychopath that sent a Taylor Hicks CD to a soldier overseas deserves a cramped cell in a Gitmo prison camp. It's bad enough that they've got to keep watching out for IEDs and car bombs. Now even care packages are coming booby-trapped with sonic death.

Sonic death! :omg (that Blake emoticon was so fitting here!).

Funny you should say that, I told my friend that they should play the Taylor CD to the terrorists at Gitmo. I remember those news articles talking about how we were blasting Metallica music to torture the terrorists, so can you imagine how they'd react to the likes of "The Runaround"? Laugh

Taylor's CD stopped being relevant in 1978.

Fixed. ;)

Seriously. It makes me very angry when I think about this.

Recently a package of ~100 Taylor Hicks CDs were sent to the troops. Can you just imagine the disappointment of the poor soldier when he opens the package and sees what's inside? Fuck, morale is already low to begin with!

This is on open letter to the Soul Patrol:

Dear Soul Patrol,

This is what you Taylor fans look like...

This is what the troops look like,,,

Ladies, you know as well as I do that the only people who bought Taylor's CD are yourselves. How can you possibly think that the troops, who are so different from you in so many ways, would also enjoy Taylor's CD? That is just cruel and unusual punishment. If you want to send something, send Daughtry or Elliott or Carrie or Kellie's CDs, stuff that they would actually listen to.

If you insist on continuing your multiple CD buying campaign, please choose a different group to donate the CDs to. Senior citizens would be a good fit. But please, for the love of God, no hospitals. We want sick people to get better, not worse.

Buying campaigns are so fucking stupid, especially when they're done under the guise of "it's for the troops." No, dickweed; if it were "for the troops," you'd be sending them food, socks, and first aid supplies. Or, if you insist on sending music, yeah--something popular that they'd probably like, or a variety of CDs so that everyone's guaranteed to like something. Or even Katharine's stupid fucking CD, because while I don't see the troops dancing to "Open Toes," I do see them putting her skanky pictures up on the tent walls, and hey, "Open Toes" is at least as good as "The Runaround" for trying to smoke al-Qaeda out of Tora Bora. Buying campaigns "for the troops," "for the children," "for world peace," whatthefuckever really, really, really piss me off. Simon

His current sales are meaningless. The only numbers that mean anything are the first month's sales.

This is just fucking insane. The only people still googling Taylor are the idiot Taytards in this thread. Enough. Delete this shit and the other Taytard thread. It doesn't even deserve to be archived.

I've been waiting for you to chime in.

Now get to work on the Blake thread. I'm sick of reading that shit, too.
