There should be a "Standard answer" to this sort of question, too.

I'll say again, there are different reasons for picking a worst. If everyone was marketable, we'd go with the worst voice. If everyone sang well, we'd go with the biggest image trainwreck. In the case of Sanjaya, he was easily better vocally than Haley, probably Brandon, and I'd even say Chris R. In Phil's case, he's got the most natural voice of the males left. But Simon doesn't want either of them. And while Chris may have a crap voice, Phil has no sex appeal, to the point of being creepy. His country/christian fan base would get him far fewer sales than Richardson's pop one. His personality is less evident on the show (though in video I've seen outside of Idol, Phil has a charmingly dry wit). And his fan base is voting for him on principles, not talent, while Tfake's thinks he's the best. I don't think the God Warriors care if Phil's the best vocalist so long as he's Christian, and WE sure as hell don't care about his vocals.

Sum it up: "The Worst" has a lot of different connotations. It's not just vocals. Standard answer.
