Again, Fremnatle has sent us a cease and desist letter. Lame. This is what, #3? Apparently now we're using the show's logo on our site somewhere (I don't see it) and their other intellectual property (don't see it either). But since their phone system is completely ridiculous, I haven't been able to leave them a message. I won't post the letter here just due to possible legal issues, but just wanted to let you know they're apparently trying to mess with us again. Pathetic. If they really wanted us to take down whatever it was that they owned, they would have said it in the letter and I would have obliged. But they're just trying to cause trouble because they're obviously threatened again. I'll call them on Monday and let you know what happens.

Dave, does using the Idol logo on a photochop count? Because I used it once, and I don't think I'm the only one.

I dunno. I'll talk to them. If that's all it is, I have no problem banning the Idol logo from being used. That's not a big deal. But like I said, my thoughts are that they're just trying to find something to shut us up before Idol starts, not that they actually find anything wrong with the site.

"other intellectual property?". Ummm, I'm no lawler but wouldn't a C&;;D require them to be a little more specific about what was said property? ...in any event, an early because we've obviously hit a massive nerve with one or more of their plants. Irish Tattoo girl the most likely suspect of course as was said before.

I would think there is a huge difference between Dave using an AI logo or pic from their website on the main page, and any submission as a post, especially a satiric photochop that includes an AI logo. The only thing that I could think of was the emoties that are published here using parts of AI photos.

I'm sure the chops are fine. My guess is that, as usual, TPTB are making a lame attempt to scare Dave. Only photos that are owned by AI would be in question.

It's a compliment if anything. It seems VFTW generates enough controversy to draw attention to the show and they know it.

Quote : Prominent Chicago Area Web Site VotefortheWorst.com Receives Support in Ongoing Battle with American Idol Parent Company (1/15/2008) FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: media@aclu.org CHICAGO - Citing a need to protect their intellectual property, FremantleMedia Ltd (UK) pressed their Cease and Desist claim against the popular satiric website, votefortheworst.com. The parent company that produces American Idol for FOX television is is starting their seventh season this month. Nigel Lithgowe, executive producer commented, "Last year we thought they were just flies buzzing around the cow. But their promotion of Antonella Barba and Sanjaya Malakar last season almost tipped over that cow. Their publication of secret information regarding this year's contestants even before the first episode has been aired is totally unacceptable. Who does that little bobble headed kid that runs that site think he is?" Believing the suit is without merit, The Chicago office of the American Civil Liberties Union has agreed to assist David Della Terza, owner of the site in all future actions. Della Terrza was unavailable for comment, however former Idol contestant, Chris Sligh, stated. " I think they just don't like you guys, period. They'll try anything to take you down. I promise. It's personal. " it's not real, people
