Didn't see a topic for this one, so I figured I'd start one.

Mainly because I'm a geek like that.

In case no one knows about this:

Isaac Mendez: Paint-the-future-while-high-painter. Already tried to commit suicide - was saved (maybe, didn't show him in the hospital or anything) by girlfriend and male nurse.

Simione Deveraux: Girlfriend of painter. No special abilities.

Micah Sanders: Son of Mirror Girl. Possibly a kid genius, no real development given except that he was fixing his computer at the beginning of the show ... but then, what 10-year-old can't?

Matt Parkman: LAPD officer who can hear voices. Wasn't in pilot.

Niki Sanders: Mirror Girl. Does peep shows online to pay bills - which she is desperately behind on. Her abilities revolve around her mirror image, though what exactly happens with that is left unexplained (so far).

Peter Petrelli: Believes he can fly. Brother to guy running for congress. Male nurse that takes care of Simione's dad. Typical angsty male lead. Has unusual bond with older brother.

Mohinder Suresh: Indian professor who finds out his father is dead. Travels to NYC to finish his father's research. Father was researching human genetic mutations (i.e. the rest of the cast).

Nathan Petrelli: Guy running for congress. Self-centered and egotistical. Doesn't believe brother (male nurse) can fly.

Claire Bennet: Show's version of Wolverine - just without the adamantine or the attitude. Possibly adopted by possibly the guy who ends up being the main villain and probably the guy who had a hand in Suresh's father's death. Cool trick: mangling hand in garbage disposal and talking to her mom while it heals.

Hiro Nakamura: Broke the space/time continuum. Geek fan service. Teleports himself into a woman's bathroom in Japan and to downtown NYC at the end of the show. Previews for next week had him finding a comic called "9th Wonder" with him on the cover and his story inside.

This guy is mentioned on the website, but no character name attached and wasn't in pilot episode:

Quote :
A fugitive from justice (Leonard Roberts, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer";) continues to baffle authorities who twice have been unable to contain him.

Well, so far it's not that bad. The ones I'm interested in are Mirror Girl (Ali Larter), "Super Hiro" (the Japanese guy), and the mental painter. Gonna watch at least this first season ... or until it gets cancelled, whichever comes first.

I watched Heroes last night. It was not that bad it just didn't really explain anything. You would figure it being the first show they would have put a little more action in it.

The cheerleader was creepy. When she stuck her hand in the garbage disposal and pulled it out and her fingers and hand was all cut up and bleeding.....then her hand heals itself.

Who is the hero. The senator or his younger brother?

Is mirror girl a good hero or a bad one?

I didn't like reading Japanese subtitles either.

Actually, I'm in love with this show. I think it is fantastc.

I saw the pilot about a month ago while I was at Universal Studios FL (and I've been waiting weeks to find out the resolution of the cliffhanger!) and loved it then. It was just as good the second time around.

I was afraid that future episodes would disappoint, but the previews looked quite kick-ass.

The worst part about this show? It's against Vanished, my second favorite new show of the season.

Slacking, I liked the show to. It definalty kept me watching. I just thought maybe they should have made it a 2 hour premire to give you a little more information and action.

Is it based on a comic? I was wondering that last night.

Funnd you mention that Diss, because it was originally a 2 hour premiere, whch they cut down to 1 hour. Which is why characters such as Greg grunberg's cop haven't been introduced yet.

As far as I know, it is an original idea not based on a comic book, but I'm sure there will be comics made from the show.

Yes, Cheerleader is quite creepy. Especially because she didn't flinch while it was happening.

From what I've seen from other boards, both the senator and his brother have some special ability - senator can fly, and some are speculating that the nurse is an empath of some sort and may be able to find the other "heroes."

Mirror Girl is a nutcase. Prolly will end up bad for a while. Definately anti-hero.

I'm just guessing but I think Senator brother is going to turn out to be the bad one. Look at the problems with his mother.

Mirror girl- I don't know. The people she killed were bad people and she seems to care about her son. It will interesting to see how that plays out.

The Japenesses guy made me laugh. His friend though he was nuts.

Wonder if the cab driver is going to be a hero

Probably not. He's going to be the one to sit these people down and explain what's going on, IMHO.

He'll be a protagonist (or he'll die early) throughout the show, but I doubt he'll get powers.

It really sounds a lot like The 4400 to me, and I love that show, and I don't think I'd want to watch a ripoff. So yeah, is it worth my time?

There's no alien abductions (yet...)

I say give it a whirl - if you missed it last night and tonight, it's playing again on Sci-Fi right before they air the new season of Doctor Who

We pulled it offa TiVo tonight. You're right, it is very reminiscent of The 4400, but not in a total rip-off way. My wife really likes the Japanese boys character. The sub-titles didn't drive us crazy, but we're used to sub-titles on Lost when Sun &;; Jin are talking.

Hopefully they don't take too long to get into the meat of the series, and then once they get going, I hope the story progresses at a descent pace.

Excellent episode 2. So Hiro doesn't teleport, but is a precog? Hmm.

I found this online.

Emerson tries to block rebroadcast of show

By Robert Patrick

ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH

10/02/2006

Emerson filed a federal lawsuit in St. Louis on Monday, seeking to block the NBC television network from rebroadcasting the pilot episode of the new show "Heroes," which depicts a woman damaging her hand in a garbage disposal made by the company.

The Ferguson-based maker of electric products says NBC Universal Television Studios did not have the right to use the company's In-Sink-Erator brand disposal in the show without permission.

The filing comes complete with color printouts that show a re-creation of a woman putting her hand in the disposal and pulling it out mangled and bloody. The suit says the scene suggests that the Emerson In-Sink-Erator "will cause debilitating and severe injuries, including the loss of fingers, in the event consumers were to accidentally insert their hand into one."

The suit also says the scene "casts the disposer in an unsavory light, irreparably tarnishing the product." Advertisement

"It's a trademark thing," said Dan Callahan, a spokesman for Emerson, adding that the issue is not the damage that a disposal might do.

The suit mentions plans to rebroadcast the pilot on the USA Network and a Canadian channel, and says it is available online. The suit asks that a judge block rebroadcasts, order NBC to stop using the Emerson trademark and destroy any materials that have Emerson trademarks.

Callahan said the suit was filed Monday and no court action has yet been taken.

The series "chronicles the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities," according to the show's website. A NBC employee said the scene illustrates a character's special power of tissue regeneration. The woman puts her hand into the disposal while it is running to retrieve a ring and subsequently heals herself.

An NBC spokesman did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

What's next? GM suing a TV show because a car exploded in a tv show?

That's ridiculous, about Emerson. Just looking for a paycheck?

Anyway, I love this show.

The second episode was just as good as the first except the ending freaked me out. Nuclear war makes me quiver. :)

I wrote on this thread yesturday and the page is gone today.

In reply to Slacking saying Damn, I love this show

I agree with you. It was really good and now it makes me just want to know more....

I like the Jap guy. He is such a big dork but that Star Trek stuff is funny

I wonder if Mirror girl is going to be bad. Who in the hell goes buries bodies with their kid asleep in the car? That girl has alot of shit going on in her life

I still think flying boys brother is going to be bad.

It will be interstering to see how cheerleader girl and daddy come to blows. I wonder who her adopted parnets are?

I like the cop. Who would not like to read people's minds?

The show was really good tonight. One of the best ones so far. Can't wait until next week.

That older brother is a piece of crap. Was glad flying boy punched him in the face.

I really like the cop and the 2 Jap boys. Mirror girl is just really weird. How would you like to have a mom like that? Cheerleader ended pretty creepy with her whole body being cut open at the end. The previews for next week look even better. Seen a commerical to get the new Hero comic book. Laugh

ETA: You can watch the whole show on NBC website.

Excellent episode tonight. Waking up on the autopsy table would be a nightmare. I'm hoping she takes out proper revenge on the asshole who tried to rape her and ended up killing her.

At least Hiro has convinced his friend that he's special.

great episode, but my stupid tivo cut out the scenes from the next one

older brother had it coming, and im not pleased about the new love affair, she was one of the few people on the show i don't like

the only other one being the bitch cop, who I have hated ever since I saw her in the movie Identity, I really hoped she would die

glad the jap friend came around, and I almost hope he gets a power too

edit: I think the short haired girl is evil, no reason, just a feeling

This was a good episode. But it's still the kind of show that'll give you nightmares, lol.

Claire's "boyfriend" made me sick. But since he killed her, and she'll obviously come back to life, that means her secret's out.

Hiro is my favorite. He definitly has the best super power too.

Lessee ...

Something needs to happen with Nikki (Mirror Girl) real soon. Her story is boring.

Hiro is awesome!

Claire ... meh. I FF'd until she fell on the log. Next week she seems to get interesting.

Suresh ... blah. It's going to be interesting to see how he explains the room (I think the first thing I would have noticed was the entire place being empty).

Cop: AWESOME!!!! Can't wait to see who Sylar is!

Petrelli's - not too interesting, though the graphic novel (found at abc.com on the Heroes show page) shows Nathan rescuing someone from a burning building.

Isaac's story is a little blah and I wasn't surprised to see that he had drawn his girl and Peter kissing.

There were stories I wanted to FF through because they are putting me to sleep. Hopefully the show'll start picking up ...
