This looks like another winner for AMC. Premiered tonight, and that had to be one of the greatest pilots for a TV show I have ever seen. Creepy, brutal, sad and just awesome. Have high hopes for this.

Damn you. I downloaded and watched it because of your post. It was really good. I don't get why he would go into the city after seeing that huge (dead) traffic jam LEAVING the city though, especially as a police officer. That was just asking for trouble.

I watched this too and it is so good!! I loved the slow terror it built. When the deputy went into the pitch black stairwell with only a match to light the way I literally had to pause the show for a few minutes to compose myself! LOL I haven't been this scared by a movie for a long long time.

I guess he went into the city because he never really witnessed the scope of the zombies in large number. I don't think he really thought it would be so life threatening. He was too confident. The preview pictures on IMDB for next week look so good! I can not wait.

It will air again multiple times on AMC. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1520211/episodes

It dragged in a couple of parts, but stayed interesting enough. The first season will only have 6 episodes.

I enjoyed it despite its flaws. I too did not understand why he would think the city would be safe. I also did not understand why his partner and wife did not recognize his voice over the CB radio. I would know my husband's voice anywhere. And the horse still being alive outside of the farmhouse and not eaten yet. I know...I nitpick.

As my wife was out of town last week, we didn't watch episode one until yesterday and didn't watch number 2 yesterday because TiVo prioritized it late.

Anyway. Awesome show, but the guy is an IDIOT and there were several flaws in the story line as well.

1) How does he end up not being Zombie chow in the coma for what, a month? Additionally, he should have been covered in bed sores and feces with nobody to put him on a bedpan etc.

1) Why are there matches at the nurse's station? Hell why are there matches at all in a hospital with all the various flammable gasses around.

2) So you need to go down the dark stairwell. You don't prop the door open to let some light in?

3) You make it to your house, find your family gone, and don't put pants on, even after seeing the wierd zombie corpse in the park?

4) When they're at the police station, they all shower at the same time, nobody keeping watch, then they send Dewayne off on his own to change? Sorry son, but modesty goes out the window, when we're in Zombieland. Especially when as they're leaving the station, another zombie shows up?

5) We know why his wife was being distant. But I was under the impression that the wife of a cop, is more likely to dump the cop for someone in a less dangerous profession. It's the stress of not knowing if your husband will come home in a body bag. Why trade one body bag for another.

6) A HORSE? Jesus Christ. By now you should be an expert at siphoning gas from other cars. Sure it's relatively low maintenance. But damn, you're ass is hanging out. At least, as you're getting closer to Atlanta, find a big ass SUV or hummer. And when you're not finding ANY signs of life in the suburbs, don't ride all the way into downtown Atlanta. (Hint: find a map that tells you where the CDC is located and head that direction.) I bet it's not at the corner of Peachtree Blvd North and Peachtree Avenue West.

and lastly.

7) Whenever you find yourself in proximity of a corpse. It's called "Double Tap". Make sure it's truly dead, not mostly dead.

On the whole, it was a fun first run and I'm really hoping they keep up the quality.

I think it was assumed that there was someone taking care of him during that LONG hospital stay up until a little while before he woke up. They showed a dead nurse in the hallway who was not a zombie.

If anyone missed the pilot, it's streaming on AMC's website. However, you're SOL if you don't catch a rerun of episode two because they aren't streaming anything else.

So many disturbing scenes, especially the horse eating scene. But this show is fucking awesome so far.

Yea, poor horse. Would have still been alive if not for the idiot deputy riding him into town.

With the people camped on the outskirts of town, foraging for food and all. I can think of so many better places to camp. Like in a farming area where there is real food that has been planted and is just waiting to be harvested instead of having to hunt for mushrooms. Then there is the whole, lets hide out in a place that has all sorts of cover around us for the walkers to sneak up on us.

As far as Joe Redneck. Handcuffed to the pipe on the roof as the centerpiece at the zombie buffet sucks as a way to go. Then again, if he hadn't been such an asshole, he wouldn't have been in that position. I know with all certainty, that if he had been released (or ends up being rescued) he would have taken his revenge on the deputy and the black guy at the soonest opportunity.

I'm guessing the racist redneck will return later without an arm, since it made a point of showing that dropped bucket of tools, which included a saw. I'm not really sure how I feel about that, since I thought his character was kinda cheesy.

Also Rick's ex-partner banging his wife was kind of an awkward scene... I'm wondering if their affair was going on before the zombie apocalypse or if it's a new thing...

Other than that, loving the show. Apparently, the next episode is supposed to be all kinds of awesome.

Just been watching. This shit is hilarious! A lot of flaws but a fun show.

They're in a department store - so stock up on guns, weapons (sports dept anyone?). Take fucking army trucks for fuel! Or to get away! Take the bus, everyone can ride on it, looks like it will have fuel! Why not grab some waders before going into the sewer? Heh and of course his wife is porking his mate, no surprises there.

I'll watch some more, it's funny.

I Laugh all the way through this. Could it be any more obvious what's going to happen? They're going for every stereotype possible, it seems. Womenfolk wash clothing, men do nada. One woman even irons Laugh like that's a priority to have pressed clothing when fighting zombies.

WTF is with 'geeks' as a name for zombies, btw? Makes no sense.

And I must say, the sound effects are so damned loud when they fight a zombie, it's almost deafening Laugh This show is so funny.

^ I assumed "geeks" is in reference to the old sideshow freaks that bit heads off chickens as part of their act.

But maybe that's just me.

That's what I was thinking with the "geeks" term, too.

Great episode tonight. Those last few minutes were fucking intense. Also, I'm really liking that Darryl character and his crossbow action

True to Hollyweird formula; if a near background character gets a lot of screen time and backstory, it probably means they are going to be killed off soon(the opening with the sisters fishing and talking about their dad).

So where's Merl? I was sure he was going to drive back to camp and reck vengence on the guys who left him for dead.

^^^ I bet Merle loaded up the cube van with geeks/zombies and led them to the camp. It seems to coincidental that 40 zombies showed up at the exact same time.

How did the others get back from Atlanta so quick? What vehicle did they use? It was a fantastic ending!! And I really loved the twist on the "gang bangers".

PoopshipDestroyer

I was wondering that about Merle. Where the hell was he if he took the van and Ricky and the others had to go by foot (which was kind of a suspension of disbelief... why didn't they just take another car?) and got back to camp seemingly before him? And if he did somehow lead the hoard of zombies to the camp, wouldn't he think his brother could get attacked, too?

Then again, it could just be the guys assumed wrong that he was the one who took the van. In the last episode they said something about the zombies going further out of the cities to look for food, so it could just have been that...

I kinda groaned when those gang bangers showed up, so I'm also glad they pulled that swerve on us.
