Thursdays starting September 17th, NBC will begin showing "Community" starring The Soup's Joel McHale and Chevy Chase.

Joel McHale is a lawyer who could be disbarred so he has to take classes at the local community college.

The pilot can be found on Facebook for the next three days. Definitely one of the best pilots I have seen in a long time, and seems like it could be a great paring with The Office.

Now that I am watching The Office on DVD and enjoying it, I may watch it, meaning I may watch this too. Or at least Tivo it and watch it if I get bored.

I have this nagging feeling the show will be the greatest thing since sliced bread, or be so overthought that it will die a quick but miserable death. Then again, there's lots of crap that keeps getting renewed.

I was going to start this thread, but then I discovered it here.

I. Love. This. Show. It is genius. To me, it's the most hilarious new comedy of the year--or at least on an equal level with the also amazing Modern Family.

Community's pilot alone was the first time in ages that I watched a TV show and could hardly breathe.

And I'm glad to see NBC supporting it. (What other fucking choice do they have these days? Their four sitcoms are all they've got going for them.) I think it has major growth potential, and lately has been expanding on good subplots.

Abed has got to be one of the greatest characters of modern television.

Bonus in-jokes: Generally, once per episode, someone makes a pointed reference to American Idol--usually punning Joel McHale for looking like Ryan Laugh.

I like this show. Doesn't hurt that I find Joel McHale really hot in it

^ Like in the cowboy costume during the Halloween episode? I agree, yum.

I love Abed. I love his stupid scenes with Troy that end each episode.

I like this show a lot.

I really like when they throw in a joke about Seacrest or E! I believe they've only done it a couple of times, but I like humor like that.

Oh, and one thing still stands out in my head...the song that Piers (Chevy Chase) sang with Brita's ex-bf. "She's a GDB". Still cracks me up.

^Yeah, that was great. I think that episode (#8) is one of the best so far, especially with Jeff being Abed's roommate. There's a great AI joke in about half the episodes--my favorite being Abed's father:

"YOU go host American Idol!" Laugh

And I agree about Joel McHale being really hott. Although when he was shirtless in that episode, I immediately thought "ORANGE...SEACREST".

Best line so far:

"...What's going on? Am I deaf?! Can anybody hear me??"

OMG, I love this show! There aren't that many shows I have to watch every week, but Community is one of them.

My personal favorite is the episode when Chevy Chase (Peirs) writes the school song.

That was great Clap.

The debate episode (from a few weeks ago) was one of the best since the pilot; I'd rather see Annie's and Jeff's attraction come to fruition than either one with Britta or Troy, respectively--particularly because Troy's facial expressions annoy me.

This past week: Reverse Porky's Laugh.

I hope this show gets a Golden Globe nod next week. It means little, except a great series earning recognition it deserves.

Donald Glover, the guy who plays Troy, was featured as one of the top nine new comedians of 2009 on Comedy Central's "Hot List."

I had no idea that he was a comedian, but I found out he used to write for "30 Rock", and left the show to work on "Community."

The Moar You Know, I guess.

Good for him Clap. Some of the episodes he contributed to are faves of mine.

This week's episode was fantastic. Anthony Michael Hall was a welcome surprise. Britta's constant gay theory was especially hilarious. See, she's got a personality.

SHIRLEY: "So, I didn't know you were a...Jew."

ANNIE: "Maybe we should say the whole word from now on."

Later...

PIERS: "So, how long have you been a Jew?"

ANNIE: "Please just say the whole word!

PIERS: "Okay, Jewie."

New episode is on now, and Jack Black is on. I hate Jack Black. But so do all the characters, so it's all kosher.

Did anyone hear that Tits McPhee is gonna guest star though...?

Katharine McPhee To Guest Star On NBC's Community

Anthony Jones - Celebrity News Service Reporter

Los Angeles, CA, United States (CNS) - Katharine McPhee, who just released her sophomore album "Unbroken," is set to guest star on NBC's "Community."

She'll be joining the hit comedy for its first episode airing after the Winter Olympics.

Community, about the unconventional students of a Denver community college, stars The Soup host Joel McHale and veteran comedian Chevy Chase. During her guest spot, McPhee would play the daughter of Pierce (Chase) and a possible love interest for main character Jeff (McHale).

Community kicks off its mid-season this week with a guest appearance by Jack Black.

McPhee's episode will air in early March, when the show returns from NBC's airing of the Winter Olympics.

Along with showcasing her comedic chops in a new video for Vevo, McPhee will also appear in the romantic comedy You May Not Kiss the Bride, which releases later this year.

Her new album "Unbroken," featuring the single "Had It All," is in stores now.

Barf

I hope Britta catfights her!

AI has to ruin everything. Even things that air nowhere near their timeslot.

She had better be brunette on the show to make any love interest with Jeff even remotely believable.

I still haven't seen this week's episode with Tits McPhee, BUT I have some news to report:

Quote :
This just in: NBC’s entire Thursday night comedy lineup will be back next season!

The Peacock has extended early renewals to rookie comedy Community as well as The Office and 30 Rock. The pickups come less than a month after the net ordered a third season of Parks and Recreation.

The jubilant Community cast immediately took to Twitter to celebrate the news. “We just got called into the make-up trailer and told that WE GOT PICKED UP FOR A SECOND SEASON,” exulted Yvette Brown. Added co-star Danny Pudi: “Drizzle drizzle! NBC picked us up for Season 2 of Greendale shenanigans. Thank YOU for watching and Thank YOU cast/crew for the best job!”

Still on the bubble: Heroes, Mercy, Trauma, and Chuck.

Clap Clap Clap Clap

SO ecstatic. Also, for a cute little behind-the-scenes psych out on the cast by creator Dan Harmon, here's a little video of him breaking the news in the guise of a faux cancellation in their makeup trailer.

I watched the show online & I don't recall seeing Katharine on Thursday night's show.

Either way, I'm glad it's been picked up for a 2nd season. I enjoy this show.

Was she on this week? She was on The Soup awards and Joel said she was going to be on it...I took it as she hadn't yet. I have it DVR'ed and still haven't watched it yet.
