Didn't do anything for me. I was in children's theater from second grade until college, so it should have resonated with me on some level. Nothing. Might give it one more week... maybe I was just tired?

Quote "Wagner4eva": I have GOT to see the ratings on the first ep This is THE most pimped show in the history of television HOPE IT FAILS
This show reminds me of other musical shows that failed BIG time that were just as pimped:
Cop Rock (1990) - Quote : In what must have been one of the shortest lived series on network television, "Cop Rock" was part "Real Stories of the Highway Patrol" and part "Sound of Music". After chasing down a criminal, the force would take to the street for an organized dance number, then haul the guy back to HQ. This may have been the only series to have been based on a Broadway musical format.
Viva Laughlin (2007) - Quote : Small-time casino owner, Ripley Holden, dreams of opening up a snazzy resort on the Laughlin Strip. Based on the BBC murder-mystery-musical series, "Blackpool."
This is the famous/infamous clip with Hugh Jackman. Wonder if this crap is on his vitae.
I think Glee worked only because it is based in a high school so the tweens and frau loved it.

If this episode doesn't entertain me on any level (like last week's didn't) I think I'm done.

KatPee with the door closing in her face was
OOh, he's messing with her head...
ETA: The blonde is also a better dancer. KatPee dances as well as Katie Holmes.

So Ivy wins the part and Smash's ratings win again in the 18-49 demo but is just edged out by Hawai'i 5-0 in overall viewers department. And somewhere KatPee is screaming that this show is feeling like AI all over again.

I just can't tolerate this show. It's totally boring, without even one interesting story arc, and I can't believe it would be interesting to anyone who hasn't been in theater and knows the anxiety of call backs and waiting for the cast list to be posted. I gave it two hours of my life that I can't get back. Done.

This is a great show, for the theater lovers. Music is goog. Katharine McPhee is the star of the show has nice voice is captivting and flawless. This has the potential to be a long running show.

Sometimes a show succeeds inspite of a clunker in the cast.

I've tried to get into this show but the problem for me is that it has no sense of humor. Plus I can't get past KatMcPhee's shitty acting.

Never the less, this show will probably be back for another season. It gets decent ratings(for an NBC show) and has ratings power house 'The Voice' that's on before it. Plus, with both Castle & H50 in reruns right now, Smash won its hour on Monday.
Actually, this show is growing on me a little. Was fun watching Ivy get more and more insecure about where she stands and hopefully things really blow up next week like they have been teasing all season so far.

^I'm thinking the same thing. I can only just barely get through them, so if the "blow up" doesn't happen, I'm out.

Anyone else think Michael and Julia ditching their spouses for a little action is cliched and stupid?
