I have been sending my own definitions to people who post quesitons using the Inbox but will post a couple here. Sometimes a more complete definition is needed so n00bs can understand the VFTW usage of a term.

Frau is a non-PC term for the typical AI fan - overweight, female, not to bright, obsessed with one contestant to the point of not seeing that contestant's faults - in fact attacking those who would point out the faults. A Frau goes on message boards to post gushing messages about how great the contestant is, buys multiple copies of the contestant's AI songs and then the CDs after the season is over, goes to the shows wearing Tee-shirts with the contestant's face and carrying signs promising undying love. The typical stereotypes of German woman contributed to the adoption of the term but it is probably the onomatopoeia of the word that makes it stick.

The difference between Plant and Judges' Favorite

A Plant and a Judges' Favorite are closely linked but slightly different. The Idol producers - despite the show's stated objective - do not feel the next American Idol is going to come from the mass auditions because they feel that a person needs some music biz experience to handle the pressure. So they look for people who have some experience but don't have current recording contracts. They bring these people in through a special 'audition' process that takes place at the same time and place as the mass auditions so they can get some video footage of them at the venue. When they get to the first television audition with the judges, the judges have carefully written scripts covering what to say about their backgrounds and what not to say as they want America to think they are "newly" discovered talent. From then on, they are obvious "judges' favorites" as every assessment will be a positive one. There are usually 3-4 Plants in a season as they don't know which one will catch on. To protect the Plants, the rest of the contestants are carefully chosen 'Fodder' which means they are OK but not good enough vocally to show up the Plants in any way. The plan is for these people to get voted off week by week without establishing an emotional connection to the viewers such that the viewers will stay tuned in the next week, voting for whoever is left until eventually one of the Plants emerges as a crowd pleaser. As a result, each season hundreds of auditioners are turned away whose vocal talents rival or exceed those of the Plants; increasingly, the producers want Fodder with Sob Stories and trade vocal talent for Sob Stories (ex. Didi B.). Occassionally, someone will come through the mass audition process with enough talent and stage presence to catch the judges' eye and will consistently get overly positive assessments, so it is possible to be a Judges' Favorite without being a Plant. This happens often enough to distinguish the professionally experienced Plants from the fodder turned favorite by a Wow Moment.</p>

"Tard" is a non-PC term for anyone who is fanatically obsessed with a particular pop culture icon, especially one of the American Idols and doubly so for one of the idols out of favor with the worsters and/or in favor with the judges. It stems from the fact that the obsession makes the person incapable of rationally evaluating their idol's shortcomings - i.e. appearing 'retarded'. Tard can be a noun or a verb and is always used in a derogative or pejorative sense but some Worsters will self apply it pre-emptively if they are saying something good about a Judges' Favorite. Tard is generally used to label someone who is heaping outlandish praise on their own idol but tards have a nasty habit of tearing down other people's idols. Most Worsters just hope 'tards' will take offense at the label and go post their comments on some other blog.

Uh, what? She wishes to pray away the gay. All of the important things a person could put their energy into, like ending poverty, improving education, making neighborhoods safe for children, and she obsesses on a passage in the Bible about homosexuality. How is that not homophobic?

Sorry by the way. Bit of a newbie and I have just in the past considered Mandisa to be harmless until now.

She basically lost the show because of her comments. Apparently she didn't realize a majority of people who vote for the fat divas every year are gay.
