yes, GIMP ace includes adaptive contrast and some other plugin together. sorry i didn't specify...i don't even know what other plugin it adds...must never use it...lol. anyway, here's a "beginners' tutorial" i recorded for those who are just starting using gimp and don't have a clue where to begin. if anyone needs anything else that's more specific, message me and i'll try to post something on here for you. i don't check this thread as often as i should, so it might take some time to get back to you if you just post here. if you direct message me, i'll get back to you a lot quicker.

no problem. the tutorial was originally 14 minutes, but i guess the max for photobucket is 10 minutes...it cut it down to 10 on the dot. weird. not too much important info after the 10 minute mark though, just how to outline text and a repeat of my "cartooning" tutorial with video...so it cuts off abruptly, but you aren't really missing much.

I must be doing something wrong with the install of the adaptive contrast plugin. The Gmic was no problem.
I don't have an option under Filters for Color. I have a seperate tab for Color, but no adaptive contrast as an option.
I'm running Gimp 2.6 and it didn't ask for any other files.
Anyone have an idea?
Thanks!
Em

Just in case someone else stumbles across this looking for the cure to the same problem:
You need to download the Gimp-Ace2 http://registry.gimp.org/node/20 and put in the plugin folder as well as this exe file http://registry.gimp.org/node/11729
Didn't need to download the file extensions. Think it has been cleared up in the most recent release of gimp.
BTW: Gimp 2.6.11, Windows XP, 32 bit

Here's a small step by step tutorial on the Green Eggs and Han chop:

I was going to say you were fortunate that there was an "n" in Green to use for Han, but I see you erased part of the m.
I loved seeing how you did that. Thanks for taking the time to write it up.

In my mind, I was altering "Ham" to Han" and I must have taken that literally when I was chopping. It actually never occurred to me to replace the "m" in Ham with the "n" from Green, which would have been easier and would matched the "n" in both Green and And. Kind of a brainfart there.

Ditto. Thanks for the step-by-step explanation, Hanson. I haven't attempted any chopping myself, being content to see what the rest of you create, but now I have a much better idea of what it takes. (Now I'm even more impressed than I was before...here I was thinking you just waved your magic wand.)

Hope this is the right place for this...
Does anyone have screencap or link of one for Lady Bidet's father? Can't find one for the life of me.
Thanks.

This is the best I could find. I lost the episode where they interviewed his parents.

Right click and save the image as a .png file. When you open it in photoshop or GIMP, it should be it's own layer.

Thank goodness for this thread. Photobucket just upgraded from tween-training-wheels to Flash (I think) and what little I knew is now totally obsolete. The Help is useless, of course. I'll have to spend some quality time here soon but wanted to THANK BPB etc. in advance.
ETA: Photobucket switched from Fotoflexer to Pixlr, without any warning or announcement. Their Help section unfortunately did not get switched. They are now enjoying a well-deserved storm of hatred.

Yeah, with the new Photobucket, has anyone figured out how to fill a section to make it transparent? I knew how to do it on the old Photobucket, but haven't found a way to select anything but a color on the new one. And their Help is utterly useless.

No fecking clue, Moxie. It don't signify at the moment anyway because the Advanced Editor won't save. I resorted to getting on Pixlr by myself (not as part of Photobucket), then saving my work to a Flickr account. (You can also save it to your computer, but I use a shared one.) It saved just fine, so the problem is with Photobucket.
For purely tool-related questions, do try the Pixlr Help (accessible from Advanced Editor, black band across the top of the editing window says File - Edit - Image - Layer - Adjustment - Filter - View - Help) rather than the Photobucket Help.

Yeah, I actually resorted to Pixlr too. There doesn't seem to be a way in Photobucket to save as .png yet. Seems like a really basic thing that they would enable. Oh well. I can work around just about anything if I need to. Thanks for your input!
