Quote : American Idol's Profit down in part to Seacrest's contract
I've been yelling for over a year to fire this douche NOW. With the way the show has evolved, he's become completely irrelevant. $28 million for this zero? They could get some robot like the one on DWTS to do it for $2800.

Quote "Jillian02": Quote : American Idol host Ryan Seacrest’s fat contract with CKX -- the quirky company that owns the rights to the show -- seems to have done a number on Idol’s profits. Despite all the upbeat talk about Idol’s ratings resurgence so far this year, the show’s 1Q operating profit for CKX of $13.6 million was down 17% vs. the same period last year on revenues of $28.4 million, down 2% And CKX already had to downsize 19E last year- cut out the London and New york offices, and basically consolidate all to the L.A. office..what now ? move it all to a studio apartment in Cleveland??

He's obviously got photos of Simon Fuller naked with a dwarf and a black rubber chicken fucker suit!

It's an omen. Season Eleventy will be the last.

Quote "annielynn": It's an omen. Season Eleventy will be the last. Aww, deja vu from two years ago when Simon was leaving. The show survived without Simon, and it can definitely survive without Ryan if they find the right replacement.
I doubt anybody tunes into the show to see Ryan.

I think this is a clear indicator that Idol will be replaced by X-Factor in the same slot next year, or the year after. I suspect they may try and merge the two shows in some way, maybe moving one or more judges from Idol to X-factor.
ETA: or maybe the other way round, but I doubt it.

That's not happening. X-Factor is getting less than half of the ratings of idol. I don't really see what this all has to do with Ryan maybe leaving. X Factor was a flop this year and idol's ratings went back up. I don't really see what you are saying...

The Fall season is a lot tougher that the season Idol runs in. If X-factor replaced Idol in winter/spring I think it would do similar numbers, so long as they tweaked a few things on the show and added more well-known judges and MC.

Ryan Seacrest Is Said to Be Close to New Deal With Comcast Quote : The new package with Comcast will not put Mr. Seacrest on “The Voice,” NBC’s new singing competition, despite the network’s rumored interest in having him take the helm of that show, a rival to “American Idol.” The owners of “Idol” are believed to be in separate negotiations with Mr. Seacrest for a new contract.

Dick Clark died this morning. I predict this is Ryan's last year. He will need time to move into Dick's offices and change the logo and name from Dick Clark Productions to Ryan Seacrest Productions. He will also need time to tap dance on Dick's grave after the funeral.

R.I.P Dick Clark.
And AI for that matter. Without Seacrest it will sink like a rock.

Sheeit.. every time Dick so much as coughed, Seacrest probably called for an estimate on steam cleaning the offices. He probably sent him coupons for free combination skydiving/scuba diving with sharks lessons.

Ryan's gonna be in a great mood tonight, like he's just been laid.

^^ I'm sure he'll mention it and they'll maybe have some kind of schmaltzy tribute. He'll have a hard time feigning sympathy and hiding his elation.

Ryan Seacrest wasted no time disrespecting Dick Clark's memory. He said without Dick Clark's accomplishments, a show like American Idol wouldn't be possible.
Never mind that he's probably already moving forward with his takeover of Dick Clark Productions and sending in architects first thing in the morning to redo the man's office- blaming AI on Dick Clark is the lowest blow ever.
Seriously, though, rest in peace, Dick Clark...
