So you've decided to post at the VFTW forum. And you've decided that your post should go in the American Idol 11 category. First of all, is it about someone from a past season? If so, don't post it here. It's not? OK, good. We have some extra special rules for this forum since it gets really busy. Failure to listen to what's written here will result in a warning and/or banning. And if you decided to post without reading this... tough luck. You're still required to know all of these rules.

What are the general rules of this message board?

They're here. Read em, love em, learn em. If not, expect a smack on the ass with a ruler followed by a quick banning.

I want to start a thread. How do I know whether to post in a thread that already exists or to start a new one?

Usually, posting in a thread that already exists is a smart idea. In addition to the regular rules, the AI11 forum has a few extras. Each contestant is allowed to have ONE thread only for all discussion. There are a gigantic number of contestants, so this will keep things sane. The only exception is for any VFTW pick. Once we've selected someone as the VFTW pick, you can start multiple threads about them for the season, but they must be original and interesting. "The Amanda Overmyer Whisky Show Play By Play" is something new. "Scott MacIntyre is so cool", "I hate Tatiana and I hate you", or "What song did Lil Rounds sing this week?" are stupid and will be locked. Thread locking is up to the moderators. So remember, if we don't find your thread on your chosen loser to be worthwhile, we're locking it.

I want to make photochops. Where should I post them?

We have a photochop thread, feel free to post them there or in the thread that the photochop refers to (feel free to put pictures of Von's head on a donkey's body in the Von thread). There are only a few rules for chops:

1) They can't have the Idol logo in them

2) No pink private parts (no penises, vaginas, female nipples, etc)

3) No underage contestants chopped into anything of a sexual nature

4) Always put your name on your chops. TMZ/PerezHilton/etc all come here and steal the chops. You'll want to have credit if they take it and pretend they made it.

How do I get a custom subnic like the cool kids?

VFTW kindly accepts donations in exchange for a custom subnic. This place is expensive to run because it's so popular, so if you help us out with a little green, we'll reward you with your very own subnic that no one else can have. This is completely voluntary, but it does make you cool, and we do appreciate the help.

I want to share my website. Can I do that?

Only if it's American Idol or VFTW related and on topic with a discussion.

Good: Sharing a link to your site with pictures of Bikini Girl in the bikini Girl thread. Once. Not twice.

Bad: Posting a new topic with your website. Then doing it again when it's locked. Then crying about it like a little baby when you get banned.

But on this other board, _____ is against the rules, so it should be here too!

No, it shouldn't. We don't care what the rules are on the other boards. If it's not against the rules here, live with it. Obviously you don't care about the other board either, because you're spending your time here, proving that we are of course the superior message board.

Why are you guys mean and not letting me chat off topic about stuff in the AI11 threads?

The General Chat forum is for off topic chatting. These threads are for Idol only. If your posts get way off track, we're just going to delete them. Learn to love it and get used to it.

Can you make a handy alphabetical index of the threads for the contestants so I have easy access?

Yes. Want to post news on your favorite Idol? Before you start a new thread, check and see if they already have a thread. It makes things much easier to find later if we keep news about former Idols in one thread about them

Here's a list of whoever has their own thread, and we'll keep it updated. If you want to add to the list by starting a thread for a contestant that does not have one, reply here and post a link to it so we can add it to the list.
