There was a stupid little press conference last night for the upcoming season. During it, Idol trashed shows like The Voice and Factor, saying...

The Voice cast contestants, American Idol held open calls

Whoa. Idol invented the plant and casting contestants. Nice to start the season with a big lie.

Lots of other snarking at X Factor and Voice during conference. Obviously they're threatened.

Idol should just write those shows off as Idol clones to avoid giving them any publicity.

They must really fear The Voice, since NBC is going to promote the show even more (and spend more $$$ on it)for its second season. Laugh

Well, I hope NBC improves the format then. They need to speed up those "battle" rounds, and not make the fodder look so obvious in the voting rounds. It premiering after the Super Bowl won't necessarily help, since on the East Coast, it'll be way past 10pm when it starts. I think it's highly likely that NBC could ruin what they have by over-expanding it, as they have with the Sing Off.

The UK Voice is about the start, and some tards are already wetting themselves, saying that Simon is worried about it rivaling X Factor in the UK. It won't, because (a) it's on the BBC, who have pockets nowhere near as deep as Simon's, (b) the BBC had an even better format in Fame Academy a few years back and cocked that up, (c) the judging panel is Tom Jones, Jessie J, will.i.am and a bloke from The Script, and (d) the hosts (there are two) have a fair chance of making Carson Daly look good.

On both sides of the Atlantic, the incumbent top shitfest is safe.

Well, you are pretty much the only one here who actually likes The X Factor better than idolLaugh

And The Voice rips into idol all the time, especially that douche Adam Levine. Idol has actually laid low on the insults until now.

If Adam Levine rips into Idol, then I'm his fan. Clap

^ Agree, though I am already his fan for ripping into Idol the last time. He can be a total bitch so the chances are good he'll rip away again...

Levine responds.

“If they’re [American Idol is] the gold standard,” Levine says, “then we can be the platinum standard. I’ll play nice.”

They bring up that the other shows are casted no less than six times. Laugh

Clearly irked that Simon got a female winner in XFUS Season 1:

Quote :
Randy Jackson says if another guy wins it will be because he’s the best contestant. And notes, as everyone knows, girls vote.

Quote :
EP Ken Warwick also points out that “Idol” has produced the most stars of the singing shows.
Yes, ten seasons of Idol versus one each of "The Voice" and XFUS.

Quote :
“The record business is still really in the toilet,” notes Randy Jackson, asked about lackluster sales for singing show champs.

Lol, thats a lot of smack talk from Levine considering the voice got what like 8 million views on average or something?

I guess I have to start paying attention to AI Eleventy. I usually don't pay attention until the audition shows start playing. And that's Wednesday!

I just saw a distressing news article about AI11. Nigel is playing for sympathy by saying that young new artists won't give Idol the rights to use their songs. At first this seems like a bad thing until you realize that the young artists we won't be hearing on AI11 include Kelly Clarkson (so much for half the female auditions and a few VFTW worthy male auditions that can't be shown now), Lionel Richie (young?), Robin Thicke (relevant?), Jewel (talented?). Now to me this boycott seems like a blessing!

Jewel was a guest judge awhile back. If I was her I'd hold off until they hold auditions in her home state of Alaska. I thought they settled with Kelly a long time ago.

Asking an AI contestant to sing any song produced by a professional is like asking a 5 year old to recreate the Mona Lisa... That said...

Dear Gods of Chopping Fodder and Saint Antoiletta,

Please PLEASE provide us poor, humble photo manipulators with a bountiful harvest of ugly trannies, hairy man-pigs, screeching harpies, and greasy frau bait tomorrow evening and in the upcoming weeks. Compromising positions and obscene gestures preferred. AMEN.

Let the Battle Begin!Clap

Maybe Kelly being on "The Voice" this year has something to do with her not allowing her songs on "Idol" this season.

The shitfest starts tonight? It's that time of the year again? Wow, how time flies when there is a shitty karaoke show on tv almost any given day...

More shocking than the report that Jane Carrey was fast tracked to an Idol audition is the fact that people obviously still believe that what they see on TV is real despite all the documentation here and elsewhere. It is also surprising that they even bother to make the plants show up on cattle call day when everything else is obviously faked. Why not just photoshop Carrey into the cattle call shots?

People think Idol's televised audition process is real
