It's all falling apart for Nigel. And Simon too.

* Lythgoe says "Voice" has fun format but weak talent

* Says "X-Factor" on TV feels like "two 'Idol' seasons"

Haven't watched either to be honest. Formats appear to be a bit tedious and way more terrible though.

Put it in stone: the first Idol theme will be Whitney Houston.

Did you hear they buried Whitney Houston? Had to... dead, you know?

Chris Brown & Rihanna Reuniting on American Idol?!

E! is reporting:

Quote :
American Idol producers are in talks with Chris Brown and Rihanna about possibly performing together on the show this season, a source close to the situation exclusively tells E! News.

"They want Chris and Rihanna to reunite on the show," the insider says. If they were to duet on Idol, it would be their first public appearance together (on purpose, at the same time), let alone their first live collaboration, since early 2009, when Brown was arrested for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

RiRi's people are denying. Fox has not approved and has no comment. Maybe this story would play better in the AI Eleventy Ratings thread? Rumors being used to prop up this ship??

^^ Yeah, Insane. I saw that after I posted here.

It's a case of multiple threads - this is Chris Brown news but related to AI and unconfirmed PR hoo-hie released but unconfirmed. Could have also gone under the AI Ratings thread too.

News Corp COO Chase Carey threw down the gauntlet to Idol‘s producers today, telling investors that the show’s ratings are “disappointing” and that the franchise “can and should provide fresh energy.”

– Nigel, Nigel, Nigel. Having never been to a live Idol show before, I was pretty shocked to see how much input producer Nigel Lythgoe has on set. Every commercial break, Lythgoe was up at the judges’ table, sometimes giving direction, sometimes joking around with Randy, J. Lo, and Steven. He gave waves to the audience, but really was running around and working the whole shoot.

Tell us something we didn't know already.

10. You knew big things were in store when the see-through stairs that step up to the judges’ table were moved towards the piano on center stage. Sure enough, Colton Dixon did not disappoint. And there was a lot of love in the room, not just from his sister Schyler who screamed, “I love you Colton,” but from Jeremy Rosado, who gave Dixon a giant Jer-bear hug after his piano-top performance (see video below).
Big surprise. Laugh

From The Hollywood Reporter

Quote: Franckewiez wanted to “Set Fire to the Rain” a la Adele last night. The stage was on fire, and he was all Biebered up for it, but let’s face it: the voice just wasn’t there. He was nervous, pitchy and flat. I felt bad for him, because he has so much more potential than being the inaugural Vote for The Worst pick.
