I think she may have been in a major car accident a week before her audition. Maybe in Indiana. Unless I'm thinking of someone else. I was hoping the 24th contestant would never get a thread.

Wow! Well, kudos to her for her recovery! We'll probably see her in Hollywood. Take it as a bad sign if she's not shown there. ETA: I was wondering where STP had found that article, and realized I had misspelled her name when I did a Google search. D'oh!

Pharos-Tribune One hurt in car-semi collision The battered remains of a 2003 Ford Mustang rest in the middle of the highway as first responders tend to its driver, Amanda L. Overmyer, 23, Frankfort. At about 9:30 a.m. Monday, Overmyer was reportedly heading south on 18th Street. As she attempted to cross U.S. 24/U.S. 35, her car was struck by a westbound semi driven by Timothy W. Pierce, 49, Huntsville, N.Y. Pierce reportedly applied the brakes and swerved but could not avoid the collision. The semi skidded another 282 feet. Overmyer was unconscious when police arrived, according to the accident report. At the Memorial Hospital emergency room, she told police she did not remember what happened. Because of a head injury, she was airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, where she was later released. Car vs. semi? She's lucky to be alive.
