I'm happy Steffi made it. I'm just too depressed that Keith and Ashley Coles got eliminated.

Quote : She loves the Roaring 20s, and she wants us to know it. Dressed in her flapper-esque Minnie Mouse costumes, Steffi D. preens, smiles and plays to the camera like a 5-year-old at her tap dance recital. And you can't help but go "Awww..." as in, "Awwwfully ridiculous." Is she the female Radford? Will she stick around long enough to become the Worst? Let's hope so. I've had an epiphany, and I think I'm going to eat my own words. Up until now, I only saw "Steffi's Picnic" under those videos. After seeing the rest of her YouTubes tonight, I have only three things to say. 1. Either the Steffi in those videos is not the same one we see on CI or... 2. ...she is sandbagging big-time and has the potential to open such a can of whoop-ass on the other contestants that Canada is going to be paralyzed in shock. She has the potential to be a darkhorse to win this thing. 3. She will be the Worst only if she sticks to safe, dumb song choices like she did with "Kiss Me" in Semi Week 3. Steffi reminds me of Taylor in a lot of ways. Both came into the competition as goofballs with a gimmick. Taylor had the Ray Charles hugs, the "Woos," the Soul Patrol shout-outs. Steffi has the awkward flapper look and the bows and ribbons in her hair. (Keep in mind that while Steffi might like the '20s, she's an actress. She's consciously playing a role as the sweet, adorable little pixie.) Second, both Taylor and Steffi are not the most physically attractive among their competitors, but they have the charisma and ability to make their audiences smile. Third, both have deep experience in their fields and have a record of work that proves they are more than just karaoke singers. The question is, does Steffi have a strategy to win like Taylor did? Her first two song choices were good. Her third one, IMO, was safe, shaky and unable to show off her vocal range. Overall, Steffi has two weaknesses. If she becomes too pop, she'll eventually lose her distinctiveness and become the Worst because she'll look like a fish out of water among the real pop/R&;;B contestants. In addition, she has the problem of not having a hard-core, organized, rabid fanbase. Taylor had the Soul Patrol; Steffi has no Puppet Patrol. That will be her fatal flaw unless she can gain fans by being her drama-girl self and bringing down the house like Taylor did with "Play That Funky Music." Doing that might irk Zack, but it'll earn Canada's attention. In conclusion, it seems so far that Steffi's potential as VFTW will largely be influenced by her song choices and the theme nights, not by raw inability or lack of talent. I could be completely wrong, and Steffi could lay eggs week after week from here on. But after seeing her in her true form, I'm predicting that she'll become a rival of VFTW for quite a while before she actually becomes the Worst--if she ever does. In other words, the world is Steffi's Picnic. We're just all invited.

Here's where it gets interesting. On that Avenue Q "The Money Song" skit, the YouTube credits show that Steffi (who for some reason is dressed in a mime costume) is playing the role of Gary Coleman. Apparently, the famous child actor is a character in the musical, and he has traditionally been played by a woman. May I suggest another fitting songstress for the role? "Whatchu' talkin' about, Willis?"

Quote : is still find it hilarious that she did 'the internet is for porn' in front of all those kids Well, given that she likes "Avenue Q" and "Family Guy," I don't think Steffi is a shrinking violet. She'd probably fit in over here or at Sucks. (Chris, could you send an invite when she's off the show?)

Everyone's favorite Puppet Girl is recognized by one of her contemporaries: Quote : I don't follow Canadian Idol (the Canadian version of the worldwide Pop Idol franchise) very closely (or at all really), but when I saw most of an episode last week I can't believe that I didn't realize that 17 year-old Steffi D is Steffi Didomenicantonio, one third of Puppets and People Productions. Steffi and fellow teenage puppeteer Ben Durocher made a big impression at last year's Puppets Up! festival in Almonte (scroll down to the bottom of the page for details). The Puppets and People Productions site lists Steffi as "on hiatus" (obviously, since she's busy vying to become Canadian Idol), but you can watch Steffi and Ben puppeteering in a clip from their show Steffi's Picnic. And look over here: Quote : Puppets and People Productions, founded in 2004, is a troupe of two young enthusiastic performers from Ottawa, Ontario. They have been performing together for a number of years. Most recently they toured with their show Steffi?s Picnic. They performed in Summer Camps, Birthday Parties, Corporate Events, Outdoor parks and festivals and many other venues. They are committed to bringing quality entertainment for children. STEFFI'S PICNIC is a musical puppet show for kid?s age 4 to 9. It?s the story of a little girl who?s having a picnic. But Steffi?s picnic basket is stolen by a hungry Monkey and Steffi goes on a musical adventure to find her basket. On her journey she meets up with a Toad who has some self confidence issues, a mean little Turtle, a Mouse with piece of cheese too big for his front door and a Lizard who makes delicious cookies, among others. Steffi will need all the help she can from her friends in the audience and on stage to find her basket before its too late! This Show is ideal for children ages 4 to 9, but people of all ages enjoy the different aspects of the show. The Show features a lot of audience participation and interaction, which gets people of all ages excited to find out what will happen next. But will the little children learn about porn at Steffi's Picnic?
"Wow, Mr. Monkey! I sure am happy to see you today."

wow...
i've never watched CI before, but i just had to download steffi's performances after that.. it's true, you do wanna pinch her cheeks! i sure hop Nigel Lies is right, because i'd hate for her to just sing bland songs until canada's sick with her and votes her off. maybe she needs some time to get used to the stage.. o, and as for a strategy.. i doubt taylor had one before he hit the top 6-7. if you watch the early episodes, his overall behavior and mannerisms are very different to what they became later on, and his song choices at the begining were.. questionable (easy, not fade away, even levon). steffi's 17, i doubt she has much of a strategy. :habitaw j'adore steffi d!
